After recently getting laid off, I searched job postings on CraigsList in the Phoenix area. I was interested in one posting for an Office Assistant - it looked really ligitimate, and responded via the "reply to" button. Rather than send them my actual resume, I first asked if they could let me know the major cross streets, because in this area, the job could be 40 or 50 miles away and still be in Phoenix. With the cost of gas and the fairly low pay offered, it wouldn't be feasible to drive way across the city for the position. I got a response about 3 weeks later, thanking me for my "resume and application" and saying it sounded like I was a perfect fit for the job. Long story short - it was from a man named Frank Gardner who owned "Global Max Shipping Agency". They even have websites for this fake company, but those are bogus too. Basically it's the Nigerian scheme of "send me all your personal information so that I can send you a certified check" for the work you will do for me "out of your home office, since I travel to China all the time". I didn't respond back to him of course, but it pissed me off that I'm trying so hard to find a job, and now these jerks are posting on the various job search boards with their phony employment positions. My fear is that some people hunting for jobs have extremely detailed resumes, giving out WAAAAAY too much personal information, and are forwarding them to all of these "gmail" or "ymail" or "hotmail" or "yahoo" email accounts - most are bogus, so please be careful and aware!!!
