Keeps auto calling
I keep getting the automated phone call from this company saying I have a COLLECT call from the Jefferson County Jail, will I accept or do I want to decline or block the call. If I want to block the call, I have to hang up and call another number to do so. I don't know anyone in the jail and I believe this is some sort of scam to get you to accept a collect call. You can't understand the recorded name of the person calling; doesn't really say anything intelligable and I get calls all day and night. Somethings up with this company, must be generating money on these bogus collect calls.

16.00 for a short, very short phone call
why are we forced to buy global tel to talk to my son in a re hab? this is america. i am forced to buy global tel link. it is 16.00 for a five minute phone call. i could buy a card at wal-mart so much cheaper. i guess this is just the american way, dirty hands, rich getting richer.

crooks
This organization is ran by crooks! I set up services for my fiance who was an inmate in the local county jail. Because of that I had to speak with a live operator because advance pay was not an option. Each time I was limited to 50 dollars that I could send allowing them a service fee each time. Had I gone over my time I would have to pay that balance off each time before I could put more money on it due to the fact that it was a cell phone. When he was transferred to state I was then transferred to the advance pay system. Almost 2 years later I start receiving a bill tell me I owe them 56 dollars. When I called they said I owe them money and what not. I then went to my bank and had them fax global tel everytime they charged me while on the old system. I then called and they told me that they will review it. Someone then called me back and left a message. I called back and requested a call back and I get nothing. I ask to speak with a supervisor since everyone is too dumb for their own good and after 10 minutes on hold I get sent to voicemail? When I try to leave a message before I could get out my name it cuts me off. If you ask me they should be the ones in jail. They are crooks and they take advantage of those who are in difficult situations.

a sad excuse of a company!!!
So I finally get in touch with Global tel this a.m!!! So I go ahead and talk to thm about the service getting st up. And I give them the local number that Cons Call home gave me... So then they are like well what's you address!!! Here we go again!!! Ugh!!! SO anyways... Make a long story short... The lady aggravated me!!! She was so rude... So I told her about her little company and how they try to monopolize us!!! So I was like well if i get a south carolina number how much will the call be? This heffer said it would be $17.00 for a 15 minute call!!! W.T.F!!! And I said:"$17.00!!! That's crazy!!! Who does that? So anywhoo... I told the cow that I wanted my refund back from the advance pay... And she didn't want to!!! She said that it was my fault that i prepayed the service!!! So she said that it was my FAULT!!! I then was like!!! I want my refund!!! So then she says well it was your fault that you prepayed the service before checking with us... She then said sarcastically if some one told you that walmart was giving away free ac units would you just go and walk in walmart and walk out with an ac unit? W.T.F??!!! I said what does that have to do with anything??? I was like well YOUR AUTOMATED SERVICE LINE TOLD ME TO PREPAY ON MY NUMBER SO THAT I CAN HAVE SERVICE!!! So anyway i payed $50.00 on my prepay account, and the heffer then says ok i will refund you the amount minus a $5.00 refund fee!!! So I'm like now how much are you refunding me? The cow says $35.00!!! I said no no... U owe me a refund of $45.00!!! So then guess what??? The cow hangs up in my face!!! So I will be filing a complaint on her!!! Hey when you kill a cow you gotta make a burger!!! So now I won't be bale to talk to my husband! I tried my best... With no success!! I gues we'll have to keep on with the letters...

money not on inmate prepay account

NEW COMPANY
I happen to own a prison support service company that helps prisoners, their family and friends. We are a "third party" to assist prisoner's families with cutting the cost of prison calls. We have the exact same complaints we see on this complaint board...faxes not being received...unknown blocks...service charges with no service...and poor customer service. We publish a magazine once every other month that reaches prisoners US wide. Since prisoners have lots of time on their hands lets allow them to join in writing letters to the needed officials to get get rid of "Global Tel Link" and get a company that can better serve your loved ones in a "honest" business way. Also please provide us any addresses we need to publish to "get our voices heard" and we will publish the information in our magazine and with our brochures. After getting billions of letters from our prisoners...change must follow!!! We still provide cheap phone calls for state prisons with "calling card access" and all federal prison facilities (they don't use Global Tel Link). The cost is less than $10 a month, and the calls are 06 cent a minute. If interested ask for details. We also offer email accounts to prisoners allow family & friends to email them anytime. We forward their emails weekly. You can also send them attachments (photos) through email. The cost is only $20 a year. We believe with our company that "NO PRISONER IS LEFT BEHIND". Overcharges and rip off
Does anyone else with loved ones in Mass. DOC suffering from this same RIP OFF from Global Tel?

From of Mass. DOC inmate:

"After calling family I noticed that Global Tel charged me a lot more than they should have. I am in the process of trying to get it straightened out. I wrote and complained about it and they basically told me that I have my figures wrong. The Officer in Charge of handling the complaints showed me a print out of all the calls that I have made so far and it shows on their print out the correct price for each call. If I talk for 20 minutes it should cost $12.65, that's $2.25 for making the call and 52 cents a minute. The maximum time I can talk for is 20 minutes. They charged me $14.82 per call! This comes out to be about 25 minutes.

(The call timer on the recipient’s phone usually says 20 minutes 33 seconds before the phone is disconnected). Also, the balance on the print out from the Officer in Charge stated my balance was $134.12 when I called placed a call just a couple of minutes later the balance stated at the beginning of the call said it was $122.98... where did the $11.14 vanish?

It seems an easy way to track this fraud would be to go get a print out of my account which shows all my calls up to that minute and then go and get on a phone and hear what Global Tel says I have in my account. Easy, right? Well, it shows that they are charging a whole lot more than they are providing.
I believe that I am right and that this phone company is perpetrating ripping off everyone to the tune of a whole lot of money just by configuring the time wrong!

Check your balances and see if they match... I bet they won't.

Won't correct problems
This company takes more money than any company I know. It is bad enough the prices are outrageous. I paid a bill off and they still have a block on my calls. These calls are correctional facility calls only. 2 calls a week, 30minutes each call, and my bill is over $35.00 a month. When there is a communication problem and I couldn't hear my husband talking, I have hung up, and yet they still charge me for 1 to 2 minutes, of 1.50 or more. I have asked for a credit and explained why it was only 1 minute long, and they said the would take care of it. Well to this day, I have 7.50 worth of calls that I could not hear the caller and he couldn't hear me. This has been since May. They haven't credited me but they have blocked calls for a 30.00 bill.
Now the bill is paid off and the block is still on. They claim it takes 24 hours to unblock the line. I have waited 3 days sometimes. There should be something we can do, in order to keep in communication with our loved ones. This is outrageous business practices...
