Hopefully this post will serve as a warning to anyone considering using Globus for travel. They were recommended by a travel agent, but I suggest finding another company. We traveled with them this summer, a mistake we will never make again! Here is a summary of my major complaints:
1)Bait and switch: The brochure listed some lovely hotels in central city locations, with a caviate that they may change hotels to comparableâ ones. Their idea of comparable was going from 4 to 3 stars and 30 miles out of center of cities. In Oslo, we were booked at a low budget airport hotel.
2)As a result of the hotel locations, we were forced to take "optional excursions" as we had no other transportation and couldn't walk to sites. This added an extra $1, 500 to an already expensive trip.
3) And this was a double whammy as we received no credit for less expensive hotels. For example one hotel we stayed in for 3 nights was $94 on hotels.com vs. the expected hotel at $297 per night, a difference of over $600 PLUS the cost of all the optional excursions.
4)In addition, we were over charged for their optional excursions. Their brochure offered a discount for booking more than one, but we were charged the full price, no discount. Also, they charge a huge mark-up on their prices vs. what we would have paid by going to museums on our own.
5) No comment from them on my complaints.
