My girlfriend bought a Opel Corsa Lite from CMH East Rand just over three years ago brand new. Because she only travels to work and home, the three years warranty has just expired and the milage is still very low on the Corsa with 36300km on the clock. first service done on 26/01/08, 12330km jobcard no 228588j0, 2nd service 27/10/08, 19152km jobcard no 22920950, 3rd service 28/10/09, 33453km jobcard no 22a28310. we started exp problems with the vehicle in December 2009. After returning from our holiday in January 2010, we contacted CMH East Rand and lodged a complaint, was told to bring the car in for a test, Took the car on 20/01/2010 and explained that when you start the car in the mornings, it has a bad mis and when driving it is jerking badly and no power. Mechanic took the car for a test drive and said that he can't feel anything except a slight jerking. Mechanic told me that it could be the coil and distributer. next day we were contacted by CHM East rand and told that they have to replace the coil and distributer at a cost of just over R5000-00, no diagnostic tests were done on vehicle to confirm the problem.
I took the Corsa to GM in Isando for a second opinion where a full diagnostic test was done and was told by GM Isando that the feul filter and the airfilter was never replaced on the previous service and that was the probelm on the Corsa as the feul filter was full of sludge. Had it replaced on 26/01/2010 at a cost of R590-70 and was told by GM Isando that the Corsa is 100% right and that we can come fetch the vehicle.
Next morning started the Corsa and the problem was now even worse with the heavy missing and jerking and very little power. I then contacted GM Isando and explained that the probelm is now worse and was told to bring the vehicle back. Once again i was told by GM Isando that CHM East rand did not do a propar check on the vehicle because the feul and airfilters was never replaced.
Instead of taking the vehicle back to GM Isando, i went to CHM East rand to obtain the full service history and pre vehicle service inspection sheet and jobcards from CHM East rand to see what was done on the ervices. The service manager at CHM East rand told me that he will not show me the documentation if i can't tell him firstly what my complaint is whereupon i told him that he must first bring the service records and jobcards with inspection sheets to his office then i will tell him what the problem is otherwise they will quickly go and change the records while i am waiting. Service manager refused and told me that they will not show me the service history with jobcards and inspection sheets for the Corsa. We had a argument and i told him that i have the full legal right to insist on seeing the records as i am the client and that it is our vehicle. The service manager then chased me out of he's office and told me to leave the premisses and get of the CHM property.
I contacted the dealer princaple and explained the situation to him, He told me that i must arrange a meeting for the next day with him cause he is on he's way to Bloemfontein. I told him that i will not come back to the CHM East rand because i was chased away by he's service manger and that i am taking the incident to the consumer board and to the highest level. The dealer princaple told me that i must then go ahead and do it. I strongly believe that the problem on the vehicle is caused by pure neglagence by CHM East rand and that they should be held responseble for all damages to our vehicle and to carry all costs on repairs and to refund our moneys in full what we have already spent on repairs.
