1997 GMC Jimmy
I've been trying to hold on to my Jimmy because I don't want a car payment! This car must know when I get paid because every other week it's costing me 2-3-4 of my paycheck to get back on the road. The gurggling noise started out sounding like a bird was caught in the glove compartment... now it sounds like wooden blocks are boiling and knocking under the hood. I can't use my heat or A-C because fumes come out of the vents that smell like anti-freeze, sometimes like steamed seafood. It fogs up my windows with a residue.
The sound that alarms you when keys are left in the ignition never goes off and when I'm driving that sound and the sound of wind blowing into the closed window drives me crazy. It just started happening. The truck overheats and cools itself off. The check engine light never goes off and for about 3 years the fuel gage didn't work. I had the fuel pump replaced when it stopped working just this past September and all of a sudden the fuel gage works now. I wonder why the gage was the first thing to go? The fabric is the car is poorly sewn together. It's splitting in the drivers seat and the pocket on the front passenger seat has come unthreaded.
I will NEVER buy another Jimmy! The trade in value is nothing-- the decorative side stipping with the Jimmy name on it has completely blown off the car when in motion. The rear hatch window which is virtually never used was causing the water in the window wiper to squirt into the door. My window controls only work from the drivers seat and all but one speaker is blown out entirely in the truck. Makes me sick-- I feel like I bought a brand new lemon.
