My family, which includes my wife and son, had Gold's Gym membership which we cancelled as of April 2010. I sent a letter to ABC Financial on March 29 and requested termination of membership after a month, as stipulated in the contracts. They have continued to charge our credit card for my son's membership even though he moved away to college and I told them that. They demand proof of relocation and all the rest, as other complainers have said.
At the moment they have charged our credit card nearly $300 in unjustified charges. I am aiming to get that back by bringing pressure through a Better Business Bureau complaints and consumer complaints lodged with the Massachusetts and Arkansas Attorneys General. I suggest other folks with similar complaints use these avenues of pressure to bring a spot light on Gold's Gym shyster practices.
If anyone has other ideas of how to bring pressure on this company, please spell it out in this space.
