Scammers
I attempted to cancel my contract due to the fact that my trainer and his manager refused to return my calls for over a week. When I finally did reach their 'customer service' to discuss cancellation options they kept me on hold for over an hour. I was finally put through to a liver person who informed me that I could cancel for a fee. However, a month later I was contacted by a collection agency saying that I owed over $450 in late fees and past due payments.

customer care
I 've been contacting your general manager where i do my work out ( grand junction ), some how no respond on this issues.
I left emails, calls and tell the billing dept to call me resolve this issues. It's been the fourth month. Things like this make me want to quit from your Gym.
I believe contracts have to be fullfilled by both party and satisfy their needs. I pay my membership, i didnt break things or annoy other members or make your Gym dirty or other behaviours that not satisfy the company. That's my side.
I request attention like following issues:
Respond to my calls/emails, be fair with charges on my credit card, make sure the swimming pool cleaned and heated (not 70deg) because i only do swimming, make sure the locker room smell not nasty right now.
All of the above issues is still there.
My conclusion are they dont have ethics/manners, they promised something that they cant deliver.
Last month I talked with your GM to reimburse 2 month out of 3 month that they charge double on my credit card. He agreed on that and until now no action. I m so done with them.

Rip off
Beware of signing a contract at Gold's Gym in Auburn Alabama. They make it very difficult and inconvenient to cancel. During the initial sign-up they will say that it's company policy not to do a month to month service or they will quote a huge month to month fee to encourage you to sign a contract to save money. They will also try and get a signing fee from you for the privilege of becoming a member. The cell phone companies at least give you a free phone. Gold's Gym tries to talk you into a sign-up fee and delivers nothing or at the very best tries to make you believe they are giving you a huge concession to waive the sign-up fee.
My daughter signed a 2 year contract after they assured her she could cancel upon Graduation from Auburn one year later (I don't know why they just didn't let her do a one year contract - oh wait - it's company policy) and told her that she could just come into the office and take care of it. This was a lie. They also neglected to tell her of the $50 cancellation fee and count on clients not reading the fine print. When she went to cancel the contract she was told she had to contact the company corporate offices in Columbus, GA. It took her awhile but she finally got someone and they told her she had to fill out a form and provide proof she was living somewhere else (what!!!). It turns out the form filling out thing is just a delaying tactic so they can continue to charge monthly fees. This form filling out process took 2 months!!! And they wanted to be paid for those two months plus the cancellation fee even though my daughter was no longer located in Auburn and it was their process that was so slow!! This tacks another couple of weeks to the process to pay the bill and hopefully for them they can continue the charges and send another bill later. My daughter will never use Gold's Gym again anywhere especially in Auburn, Alabama. Their business practices are slimy at best and doesn't encourage a lifetime commitment from their customers which I just don't understand. Maybe it's the locally owned nature of Gold's Gym. They figure they will never see this person again anyway so why not try and milk them for another couple of hundred. The local Gold's Gym hides behind "corporate policy" and Corporate hides behind "Each Gold's Gym is independently owned".
P.S. If you do sign up for membership don't fall for the personal trainer scam.

Worst car shop
If anyone of you get a phone call from Gold's Gym and ask you to join the club because if you join over the phone, they will give you discount, you don't have to pay the full initial fee like others and give you 1-2 months free service after you join the club over the phone... and lalala... this is all the lies and scams that they tell you.. After you heard all those benefits compare to other fitness, you will think wow... you get good deal... but after you give them your credit card number... they will charge you the rip off initial fee and charge you for regular monthly fee ==>which is not in the agreement at the time you sign up over the phone... from the time you signed up for the club, they will never bother to send you any paper work or paper agreement to your house, not even an account number... and you found out that you're being cheated and ripped off by Gold's Gym.. You call for cancellation. And they will not process your request... they will keep telling you that they will call you again, so just leave them your number... but THEY WILL NEVER CALL YOU AGAIN!!! you have to call back again and again and finally they are not going to do anything... in my case, I have to call my credit card company to have them close my credit card number so they Gold's Gym will able to charge me anymore...and then I called Gold's Gym for request reimburse my money. But they said they don't have this kind of policy that refunds money to the customer. and I asked them if they still have the conversation between me and the presentative on the day that I signed up for the contract, they said verbal conversation is not honored and not recorded...I have to go with the agreement. but the funny part is the Gold's Gym guy call me over the phone and read the agreement to me, in the agreement he reads to me, he said he is only charge me $75 for initial fee, instead of paying $159 and by joining today he will give me 2 monthly free service. But in fact, this is all the lies that fitness representative tell you over the phone so that you can join. but once you join you found out that you're being cheated by this fitness company...!!! until now they didn't give my money back and I have closed my credit cared account to get out of this company. I promised to my self will never being scam or being cheat by joining this club again1!! Ever in my life!!! And I want to let people out there know this matter so you will not become another victim like me.by mistake joined this fitness. still got so pissed off now. join bally fitness or 24 hours fitness is much better!!!

Extremely awful company
When someone asks me what is gym for, my simple answer would be a place where you can relax your mind and of course the atmosphere to be health around last and not the least is the cleanliness in the gym. I have joined this gym and have faced this problem I have seen that this gym does not pay much attention to the cleanliness, which is the most important part. On a couple occasions, I have seen people come in, work out on the elliptical machines and do not wipe down the equipment after they've used it and left it filthy/sweaty for the next person. Which I find not only a health code issue, which I feel is extremely wrong and it should be considered. I've seen people come in wearing high heeled shoes while working out on gym equipment, some people wearing work boots while working out... what happened to gym dress codes? Aren't gym members supposed to be dressed appropriately? I was very annoyed and told the instructor there to be strict enough in all this matter. He apologized and said this matter would be taken into consideration but it's been so many days I can not find any change in their system the same old people are working with the dirty boots and leaving dirt on the machine still the instructor is not bothered to tell them anything. I am very upset with this unhealthy atmosphere and therefore I am going to quit from this gym. Its an humble request never go to this unhealthy gym which has no norms and rules.

Billing
Gold's gym was bought out by Just fitness 4 u Aug. 1st. JF4U offers their members a $10 and a $17.50 month to month only membership. What about us old gold members who pay way more than that? Are we now going to be only charged the $17.50 or $10? Probably not. I have sent 5 emails to 5 different addresses I can find online for JF4u. No one has responded.
During their transition of names, Gold's never let any of us know what was going on. All the people could say at the counter was I dont know. All of a sudden they were remodeling the place. No more classes etc. No one knew anything?? GMAB. Every member I have spoke to says they had no idea what was going on, all they heard were people getting memberships for $10. Which of course were making people mad because they were paying more, including myself. GOLDS should have notified every one of their members and let them know of this transition and what was going on. They should have posted it everywhere in the GYM. There is no way this place can still charge the rest of us old gold memebers our higher fee and charge only $10 for new members to JF4u. They should change what we pay or let us cancel.

Terrible customer service
I joined Gold's Gym in February 2009 and was supposed to meet with a trainer the next week. I have a few medical issues, back surgery, hernia, and I didn't want to start without a trainer. The day before the meeting the trainer called and cancelled. I tried rescheduling numerous times, I even went in several times and was told there was no one available to meet with me. I finally gave up in April and went in and they wouldn't give me a form or anything to fill out to cancel my membership so i wrote out a letter cancelling it. In May, I was charged again on my bank account. I called and of course no one was able to speak with me so I went to my bank, they tried to call and they also called ABC Financial and no one at either place would talk to them. The bank then cancelled my account and reopened another one. They said they got a lot of complaints about Gold's Gym. I received a letter from ABC Financial dated July 24th 2009 and I called them again. They attempted (or so they said) to reach Gold's while I was on hold. They said they didn't get anywhere but I was still responsible for the payments that were due from June and if I didn't pay it would go on my credit report. I have filed complaints against ABC Financial and Gold's Gym. We'll see what happens next.

Trainer, Trains Client to Cheat on Husband
It all started four months after my mother passed away from Cancer, unexpectedly, at the age of 58. My wife and I purchased a Golds Gym trainer, Raven Nelson in December 2008, from the Cedar Park, TX location. In February of 2009 my wife text me and said she wanted to go to Miami Florida with her trainer, "as support". Never asked for me to come with her. I then checked our cell phone bill and found hundreds of text messages between Courtney and Raven Nelson since December 2008 to February 2009. My wife had been deleting the messages before she came home each night. I confronted Raven Nelson, (Gold Gym Trainer from Cedar Park, TX), and told him to stop talking to my wife outside of work. Raven punked out and blamed it on his sister and other clients who used his cell phone. After I was ignored there, I spoke with the Golds Gym Cedar Park, TX Manager. A week went by and the Manager never passed the information on to Corporate. I contacted the Golds Gym Corporate Offices. I was given the run around and I was told my inquieries were investigated and action was taken. The action taken was, Absolutly Nothing. I was told it was the fault of my wife, Courtney and and not Ravens. I had given Golds Gym Corporate Offices pages upon pages of text messages. I gave tracking device information showing Courtney arriving at Ravens residence at 3am in the morning and leaving at 4pm, not before trying to score X. Video evidence of Courtneys car at Ravens the residence, and eye witness's placing Raven with Courtney downtown Austin on "Girls Night" while still living with me. Where is the responsibility and accountablility within the Golds Gym Corporation and it's employee's? Courtney could have moved closer to her work or anywhere between Austin, TX & Cedar Park, TX; but Courtney had moved around the corner from Raven, probably a mile or less. I gave all this evidence to my divorce attorneys to show her character. Speaking of character, Courtney took my mothers personal belongings and furniture while I was at work. I was told by some Golds Gym members that they have seen Raven Nelson act too touchy feely/flirty with some of the women he trains. Others thought he was Gay. Either way if a client is un-happy for whatever reason Trainers are not councilors. Having any type of Code of Ethics, a trainer should first advise he or she is a trainer not someone to tell problems too, much less give any advise to do anything. I'm sure the click at the Cedar Park, TX location just laughs at me. I was told by a Golds Gym Employee that this same thing happened in Round Rock, TX and the employee was fired! Personally, I think Raven used the Gay card, rather he is or not makes no difference. ME: Don't smoke, rarley drink, never mentally or physically abused, never cheated or gave reason to think so, went out on limb to build a home, used my credit for a new car for Courtney, bought all new furniture with MY Mothers Life Insurance money. (And I'm the bad guy!) What Goes Around Comes Around The Cheated One Leander, Texas

Terrible experience
I signed up my wife and myself for Gold's gym membership in January 2006. I worked out there with my wife for several months, before my work forced me to transfer out of the country. So, on August 2006, I canceled my membership at the location where I joined in Long Beach, CA. I was given a pink slip confirming my cancellation in writing.
I find out 3 months later after I've left the country that I'm still being billed. I called them to sort this out. They said to fax a copy of the original pink slip because they couldn't talk to the manager. I did, it didn't work.
I called again after I noticed they were still charging a couple of months later. I got in touch with a girl who said she would cancel as of this phone call. She even sent me an e-mail asking for a forwarding address as to where to send the refund check.
Now, again they're still charging me, even after this. So now I've been forced to tell the bank to stop all charges from them. I'm not sure of my legal options from here, however. Can I take them to court? They owe me back nearly 10 months of fraudulent billing.

Poor hygiene
About 12 years ago when I first stepped into the Gold's Gym Club in San Diego - CA located in the vicinity of SDSU, where I was studying, I was fascinated. That gym was huge, sparkling, and gorgeous. I have recently moved from Aurora IL (a suburb of Chicago) to San Antonio TX.
I got a membership at the Gold's Gym #0782, located at 1602 Babcock Rd San Antonio, TX 78229. The equipment is OK, although it is never cleaned. When I entered the women showers room I felt like throwing up. The showers are not just dirty, they are FILTHY !!!
During the 10 days I've been attending the Gold's Gym at Babcock, I have seen the same trash, in the same position, everywhere on the women showers floor. All the shower drains are clogged with accumulated hair and trash. There is stagnating water on the floor. I felt I had joined the third world, ... maybe the fourth one ! I am a sport woman. I regularly attend a gym to keep healthy, NOT TO CATCH A DISEASE!!!
I am going to report these extremely poor hygienic conditions to the Better Business Bureau. They probably can advice on contacting the Bexar County building inspector for an evaluation of this club. It's a real shame that some clubs in San Antonio are so poorly maintained so as to spoil the reputation of the Gold's Gym that used to be the top of the line!
