In 2003 I joined gold's gym on a trial basis. At the time I owned a large company and my bills were paid by a controller of my company. In 2004 I sold my company and took over my own bill paying in late 2004. At that time I noticed a charge on my credit card from golds gym. I called golds gym they said I must cancel by letter or in person. I cancelled it by letter in dec 2004.

They still did not remove the automatic credit card debit. I went to the gold's gym in April and in June of 2005 but got run around. In July of 2005 I was diagnosed with rocky maintain fever. I was out of commission till January of 2006. My wife paid my bills while I was sick not knowing that part of my credit card bill was gold's monthly charges. I sent another letter in February of 2006 and asked to cancel. They continued to hit my card. I finally cancelled the credit card to stop the charges. I called golds gym and talked to the president of the milford club. He was nasty and told me he had the right to charge my card and to increase the monthly fee per my signed contract. I asked him to send me a copy of this contract. His response was request it in writing. In November of 2007 I sent a certified demand letter under mgl 93a for unfair and deceptive acts or practices.

I requested my money back and a copy of this contract that he was relying on. A month and a half later I got a letter back from the president of gold's gym milford ma. His letter basically say to bad so sad. They don't have any contract that was signed by me or any authorization debt form signed by me. He sent me blanks with the answer of "we shredded all our contracts and documents prior to January 1, 2004. Gee I wonder why? He then sent me a copy of a letter the sent me on 9-1-04 telling me about the increase to the monthly fee. The letter is addressed "dear kevin" no last name no address. Bogus! His response to the mgl93a letter is "reimbursement of funds for your lack of due diligence is unlikely" I went on line and searched gold's gym and found thousands of complaints against gold's gym nationwide.

It's there mo sign here and pay forever till you die and even after you die if your credit card is still working! A scam that needs to be exposed.
