Let me tell you about Gold Star Van lines! We were originally quoted a base price with having the option to remove items off the truck if we went over our quote. In the contract the company has to weigh the truck before they even leave your town. They did not weigh our stuff before leaving Bellingham, WA. When my husband called them out on it they talked to him like her was stupid. But not knowing that my husband drives truck for a living, knows the rules of the road. On the way to Seattle alone there are 4 different scale houses that by law truck drivers have to stop!! So not only did the movers not weigh our house but they are a company that likes to drive illegally. Then they drove our stuff down to Seattle, put our stuff on a 53 footer with other families, drove our stuff down to California where they then weighed it with the other families and called us 6 days later to inform us that we owed them 3 times more money then our original quote. Gold Star Vanlines never knew what our household actually weighed from the start. If they would have held true to their contract we would have had the option to take stuff off the truck or go ahead and pay. I still can't wrap my brain around how much we had to pay this company to get our items, when we put our house in a 10x10 storage unit. We had no couches, no refridgartor, no heavy items that would have put us that much over our quote, we mainly had boxes. This company will give you a quote based on POUNDS and then when hitting you up for more money, switch over to saying that you took up CUBIC SQ Feet, so which is it.???
Also when it comes to delivering your stuff they will not give you a confirmed delivery date. They will tell that someone will get back to you the next day. They will push out the date as far as they can so that they can turn around and charge you for a full months worth of rent. We were told we would get our stuff two weeks ago and we just recieved it 3 days ago. Needles to say we had to pay 3 times more then the agreed amount to get them to even start to move our stuff our direction. Then when they did finally deliver they still tried to jack us for more money. Gold Star Van Lines is a company that LIES and will take you for all you are worth. They will box up stuff that is already in a box and then charge you for it. It's sad to say but how much are you willing to pay for your precious items?? In the end they have the upper hand for they have your stuff, so I would strongly advise anyone to not use this company to move anything.
