Bad Services and denying a Refund
This is the most unprofessional Gym when it comes to personal training. I have been going to this gym for the past 3 years and in Feb 2011, I agreed to a personal trainer program. I was assured that with a 40 weeks program, I would see a significant difference, and would need to follow a very tight schedule. Well I did and showed up 4 times a week, but the personal trainer kept missing appointments every week and I just got 8 sessions in 4 months where I should have completed 20+. I complained and spoke to the manager requesting for my money back, and surprisingly the answer was a Big NO. I only have the option to give up this money or keep waiting for another trainer to find time to talk to me. Its been 2 weeks since and yet no resolution, they are so busy luring new customers into programs and I have been waiting. I have paid $3000 and need help.

poor customer service
Dealing with the manager Natalie Kerr at the 427 Dundas GoodLife location was a horrible expierence!!! She has no customer service skills at all!!! I would not recommend this location to anyone and have already told my friends and family about the horrible service recieved at this location. Natalie Kerr is a manager who will lose alot of the gyms clients with her attitude. She was not welcoming at all and was yelling at me for the entire gym to hear, , , needless to say I left the gym in disgust and upset that I did not workout!!! I would not step foot in the 427 and Dundas location again as long as Natalie Kerr is the Manager there

1 year contract, actually 3 year contract
This was my first and LAST time getting a membership to ANYTHING! In the winter of 2007, a dear friend and I signed up for a 1-year membership with Goodlife Fitness in Kitchener, Ontario... The location in Market Square on King Street, to be exact... Prior to signing the contract, I had inquired as to whether I would need to call and cancel my ONE YEAR membership, as I have been had by this type of gimic in the past and wanted to fore-go the hassle of it all... I was assured it was a ONE YEAR membership and I would NOT need to call and cancel. I signed the contract and a week later went to one cardio class and never went back... THREE YEARS LATER, I had noticed there was less money in my account month after month and surely to goodness could not figure out where that money was going... After closely watching my account, I saw that Goodlife Fitness continued to take out $54.60 per month for an additional 2+ years!!! Upon calling Goodlife, not only the Kitchener location, but "head office", and explaining the ONE YEAR contract and how I was assured on the end of the representative I had sat with, that it was in fact ONE YEAR, and would cease to exist on it's own, was told, there was nothing they could do. I needed to call and cancel, it was in the contract you signed." I am FURIOUS... They have taken thousands of hard earned dollars... The representative who served me no longer works there and my contract is no where to be found... Is this an ethical business philosphy?? What can I do?

discriminating bigots
I attended this gym for four months, and from the minute i walked into their facility, i was harassed by the personal trainers. I was called "sir", and mocked and ridiculed because i present in an androgynous manner. They would gang up and bully me relentlessly. When i complained to the management their response was referencing their "token" lesbian Allison they have on staff, and that "she gets called sir all the time doesnt bother her". They also told me that the guys involved had called me "sir" in error. However, they said and i quote "hope you had a good workout out today SIR" as i was going into the women's only section to continue my workout. Had they of truly thought i was a male, dont you think they would have prevented me from going in? The managers are unobjective and totally unprofessional. When i was referencing one of the trainers by name and his misconduct with me, she kept on correcting my enunciation of his name. Why is it more imperative that i say someone's name correctly but it isnt an important issue when they mistakenly reference my "gender"??? I was perpetually harassed by the trainers friends and colleagues on the floor when i was trying to work out; goading and harassing me interrupting my workout i would do alone in the studio. In fact there was an elderly woman that came into the studio when i was well established in my workout and proceeded to hit GOLF BALLS one of which missed my face literally by half an inch. When i went out to complain etc, i said it was a matter of safety; i had asked her to move and she refused. Luiz Hernandez told her to stop hitting the balls because it was a potential risk, and then turned and verbally attacked me saying i had no right to be using the studio to run; go run outside or on a treadmill, and that i was disrupting the use of the studio by "their members". so an us and you scenario. If i can go run outside, then she can go hit her golf balls in her backyard or at a park! I have just as much right to use the space and how i see fit especially when i was in the space FIRST. The manager defended this woman and said i was the one "being unreasonable and she had every right to hit golf balls" at my head no less. ???? Then the final broo ha was i was in the body attack class and these two large statured women kept hedging in on my space while i was trying to do class. We set to the floor for push ups and this woman had her spot taken by another woman so she takes my space. She literally put her big huge smelly clown feet directly in my face. I said excuse me will you please move up so your feet arent in my face? She smiled and laughed and refused to move. I finally hit her feet with my left hand and said how disrespectful. I said if someone else took your spot go deal with it with her instead of bullying me and being rude to me. Show some respect. Jen Toop put ME out saying i was the one that was inappropriate for "hitting" her feet. Well why is it that certain ones of us are designated subordinate and our rights and feelings dont matter s much as anyone else that exists? That is blatant discrimination and inequity.
They put me out of all Goodlife centres in canada because this woman bullied me and i dared to stand up for myself; because the personal trainers were violating my human rights, and i spoke up against it, that some rude and irrational woman came into a space after me that i was already using and starting hitting golf balls at my skull and i didnt tolerate it or think there was nothing wrong with that.
These people are a bunch of unprofessional redneck narrow minded ignorant hillbillies. The equipment is never fixed, the equipment in the womens area is second rate compared to the co-ed floor even tho a woman supposedly manages the place, and they gossip like a bunch of teenagers online. They have an attitude problem and nothing to show for it. The trainers were mad at me too because i dodged their annoying never ending harassment trying to get me to buy into their personal training rip offs. I witnessed them speaking disrespectfully to their clients young and old. They have NO ONE over the age of 35 acting as a fitness professional in the club. If you ride on the bus, or are of low socioeconomic status they will not either hire you or permit you to attend.
I wouldnt go there if you are rights minded and believe that all people regardless of ability or disability have the same equal right to enjoyment inclusion and RESPECT AND EQUITY.

Personal Training
Before I joined Personal Training at Goodlife, I was just a regular member doing my workouts there. Then they offered me training and seeing how far this one girl had gotten when training, I decided why not? I got the same trainer the girl had and things were going well for about a month and a half. Then my trainer told me she was leaving, at first I was a bit miffed at her sudden, disappearance but they had told me they would set me up with a new trainer. So I got this new trainer, to who I felt a little uncomfortable with because she was a tiny little woman who looked to be barley older then my 18 years of age. Eventually I got used to her and she turned out to be a good trainer. Then one day while warming up before our session, a manager came up to me and told me, that my trainer would be gone for a week.
Now this was annoying to me, because my trainer had all my information and could have called me or texted me at any point and time, or even told me she would be gone if she knew in advance. A week later I suddenly have this guy saying he was going to train me, while mine was gone. After a couple sessions I asked what was going on and he told me that he was my new trainer. Again I was miffed, I felt like I was being thrown around like a ball.
About a month and a half later due to unforeseeable circumstances I had no choice but to tell them at the end of the month I wouldn't be able to continue. They would get their last payment and I would have to leave. I talked to both my trainer and BOTH fitness managers, my trainer said it was fine. I tried telling the managers too but several messages with no response and cancelled appointments later I couldn't reach them. Finally in the middle of April I get a letter in the mail saying that they hadn't received payment from me. Now I knew this was for April, but had not been scheduling any training while trying to contact these managers. I called head office and got the scripted you have to talk to the fitness managers crap.
So, Goodlife contacts you right away when they don't get their money, but if you need to cancel a service they send you on a wild goose chase. And now they want to put me in credit for my 'missed payment'. Is it fair that 2 of my trainers can just up and leave but when I need to leave I can't and they expect me to pay for the rest of my year training? Seriously? I signed up with the first girl and she's gone. Why can they break contract and we cant?
Thanks Goodlife your really helping me life the good life.

membership cancellation
I have been trying to cancel my membership to goodlife fitness for almost a month now and I keep getting the run around. I've been to the gym Ive called their supposed headquarters and they are still charging me everytwo weeks. The latest attempt the person I was speaking to asked me to send in an email to confirm my cancellation of my membership in writing and they gave me and invalid email address.

Unreasonable cancellation charge
I purchased a membership to the GoodLife gym in July 2010. It was for a 1 year contract. As time went on, I never got into exercising and I forgot about my membership. I have paid approximately $550 dollars in fees, and I have never used their product. Today I called them to cancel my membership. They want to charge me 99$ + HST as a cancellation fee. How can they justify this? I basically gave them $550. For free! I never used their resources. How can a big company do this to the little guy? I tried calling their corporate headquarters but the telephone agent but they just gave me basic rhetoric read from a script. I gave them $550 for nothing, come on, be reasonable. This is not fair.

I called their corporate headquarters and it just made me sick. When you call, they are all happy, and cheerful, just like when you go to a gym, but the moment business comes up they are ruthless. I tried explaining my story and they basically said, "Too bad, you signed a contract". They just didnt give a shit. The woman on the phone just kept reading from a script. I can't believe how cold this company is.

Terrible Customer Service
I have been struggling to get my refund from this company for nine months. Been a member for several years, signed up for some personal training - my trainer left and was replaced by inexperenced one, he quit and then I was given another trainer... it was poor service and the level of knowldge never met with they promices.

When i first signed up they were very attentive. When the time came to end my sessions legitimately (follow rules of the contract) they got ugly! Kept promising refunds and they never processed them. Tried to call head office to get help and they were rude and unhelpful. This company cares only about money! it has been 9 months of letter and unanswered communications with them. They have little or no respect for thier employees and do not care about the client. They just want their money. The management are unprofessional. I was a member of this club for several years. After this experience I will NEVER RETURN to this facility.

Payment Overcharges
I belonged to Nubobys and was paying $125 bi-weekly for gym membership and for a personal training package. Goodlife bought out Nubodys. Toward the end of my training package I asked for confirmation of the final payment date. After asking for a month I was told that theye was an error in the payment system when Godlife took over Nubody and I still owed Goodlife 7 bi-weekly payments of $125 that they didn't recieve (for months of April, May and June). I have been going back and forth with them as they want the payments eiother in one lump sum or for 7 more bi-weekly payments.

I am still trying to get this corrected even thou I have the bank statements that show the payments were taken from my account.

Sad thing is when I went to the bank to get copies of my statements, the bank rep shared his story of how it took him 6 months to get his account straightened out when Goodlife took over his gym a few yrs back in another city.

Further, since Goodlife took over Nubodys the quality of the gym service has dropped so much that I rarely even go there any more and ny trainer left because he didn't like working for them.
