No jobs
These charity constantly runs ads that they will help disabled. I know one person who worked there a whole day and only got three dollars! Also the employees only care about getting their paperwork done and getting grants and donations rather than matching the client to a job suitable for them. Now I no longer donate to Goodwill. Someone us getting filthy rich from this so called charity.

uncorteous managers/cashiers
I have been shopping at this store as well as donating, but I bought a pair of pants that did not fit and when I took it for a store credit the manager argued about the price then he said that I could only take clothing for exchange. If it is a store credit I should be able to purchase anything with that amount.

wrongful termination
I was wrongfully terminated for false allegations from one employee. from what the project manager stated on 5/21/10. i have worked for goodwill industries for nearly 3 years and had overcame incredibly negative odds and completely turned my life around. i started working for goodwill at the marine core air station on december 21, 2007 through a vocational rehabilitation program. (a program that helps rehabilitate individuals who are either coming out of incarceration or have a disability that enables them from getting competitive and equal opportunity employment and train these individuals for the competitive work force). i had recently closed my father on april 14, 2007 and had gotten my self addicted to pain pills from 2003 until 2007. my father was a alcoholic for my entire years being raised until 2002 and and we moved around from state to state and town to town until we moved to Beaufort, South Carolina in may of 2003. on november 1, 2004 i had my first of two children, my 5 now 5 year old son brendan dasan fillinger. it took me 3 years after we had my son and loosing my father to kick the addiction to pain pills and for the first time take control of my life with the help of a my councilor from vocational rehab that was the only person who would give me the chance to prove my true potential and earn a honest living and provide a home and food for my family which is my now wife lora, my son brendan, my daughter violet marie, and since my father passed we took in my mother karen and my 4 brothers and baby sister who are timothy blake (now 20 years old with a new wife and child which was born 6/3/2010, brian colby recently turned 18, zachary lloyd recently turned 17, alexander ryan 14yrs old and last but not least destanee brianne fillinger which just turned 10 yrs old! my brother timothy and his new wife and child no longer are living with the rest of us. when i started working for goodwill food service in december 21st of 2007 and had my problems with some of the ways that goodwill was operating and treating the client employees (employees with disabilities) which i might add make up 80% of the staff at the mcas beaufort mess hall. so i seen that by voicing my concerns was getting no where i then buckled down and set a goal to become the youngest supervisor to to make a difference for not only myself, but to be a fair supervisor that all the employees could trust and rely on whenever the occasion called for which let me just say was on more than on a daily basis. it took me less than 1 year with hard work and dedication to go from being a client to a supervisor and part of the management team. less than two weeks of becoming a supervisor the project manager was wrongfully terminated and later won a lawsuit for age discrimination. the assistant project manager was terminated along with the employment specialist for the clientes less than two months after the project manager whenever they brought in the new project manager from washington state. in the first meeting he held the first thing that he said was that i everyone here should know and will come to find out that i am a redneck! this man scolded me on almost a daily basis for things that was i had no control over and even for things that took place on my off days i was being blamed for. any time i took a situation with one of the other supervisors to him he would tell say that he couldn't imagine that individual doing that and nothing was done. this man preached teamwork at all the meetings and would say one thing and do another, i was discriminated against about my age and was made inferior over my job and position even after i received my managers servsafe certification the first time i took the test, yet supervisors that have been there nearly 20 years and failed this test on more than 2 and even more occasions than that was still being showed favoritism and special privileges. my anniversary was on december 21, 2009 and was not able to use all my vacation time due to other supervisors being put first and even being let to take 2 vacations before i could have one requested day off and them taking a week to two weeks at a time, and now i will not receive payment for 59 hours of vacation time that i was never able nor aloud to use. they have held my last pay check due to my having only 10 of the 11 uniform pants issued although we moved to a new building a little over 1 year ago and had both project managers and employment specialist being replaced and however i did turn the one pair of pants in when the former managers was still employeed at goodwill and not documented due to the transistion of new management and a new building. when i expained this to the current project manager he called me a liar and told me that he is going to send my check back to the corporate office for them to redue mycheck and deduct the pants from it. after i spoke with the project manager he had the production manager call me and tell me these things. the production manager then told informed me that he had been briefed on details and sit in on a meeting about the allegations even thoe he had nothing to do with the situation and is not in his job discription to handle these matters in the first place. they have violated mybreach of trust rights by envolving parties that was not directly envolved and failed to give me a fair and equal opportunity to defend the allegation against me. the list of wrongfull doings goes on and on, these things will continue to happen and ruin decent peoples lives for no good reason unless something is done. also i was approached with the allegation on friday 5/21/2010 with less than 2 hours of my shift left. i was asked to write a statement on this date on my behalf about the allegation and was told by the project manager that i was not being suspended or terminated, but could not work until an investigation was completed. i was contacted the following tuesday 5/25/2010 to come back to work. i was so releived that i was going back to work, so i put on my uniform and went to the mcas messhall that i worked and when i walked in the building i was approached by the project manager and informed to clock in and report to his office as soon as i clocked in to go over a few details. when i went into his office the project manager along with with the employment specialist and the employment specialist for the beaufort goodwill retail store was present, the employment specialist for the retail store and the manager started asking me questions that they already asked me on 5/21/2010 while the messhall employment specialist was documenting what was being said. after i answered the questions once again, i was informed to accompany the manager to a local doctor clinic to and was given a drug screening, i was then taken back to the base and told that i now was going to be suspended pending an investigation for improper conduct. the project manager told me it was now up to the corporate office to determine the decision about the allegation and that it could take a week to a month, this was in the presence of the assistant project manager and the project manager. the two employment specialist was no longer in or around the the area! IF THERE IS ANY ONE THAT CAN HELP ME WITH THIS SITUATION AND THE NEXT LEGAL STEPS TO TAKE THEN PLEASE CONTACT ME AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVINENCE AT [email protected] is my email and my phone # is (843) 812-0981 and (843) 812-0045...i have honestly done nothing wrong for this to happen to my wife lora wasielewski who was also wronfully terminated from the goodwill industries retail store less than two weeks before my situation at the goodwill industries messhall on the beaufort south carolina marine core air station. THANK YOU!!!

Scam
I am an ex-employee of GoodWill Industries in Western Illinois and I have seen the honest donations of good hearted people be thrown in the garbage. These items had nothing wrong with them and were thrown out due to, 'needing to make room for more'. Employees in the back near the donation door are told to never let the donators see you throwing out there items or breaking them.
Items that were on the shelves that were also great items that were donated were brought off the floor and tossed in back to be destroyed. VHS were taken out of the boxes and thrown into the garbage which had nothing wrong with them and they, 'need to make more room'.It is sad because these items are being tossed in a trash compactor for no reason and people who donated them thought they were going to be going to the floor to be sold for the cause. This is not the case.
Also there thing for employing people with disability to better them is false. They use these employees to overwork them and underpay them for the multiple jobs they are doing. There is no offer for training towards anyone hired. Also they show no concern towards the well being of their workers since I saw 2 employees injured who were not shown enough concern and no report was written for one that should have been.
Anyone who shops at GoodWill is supporting a place that overprices, under pays workers and obviously shows no care towards others kind hearted gestures. GOOD WILL I THINK NOT!

Unethical behavior/employee attitude
My Husband and I among other relatives have used the Goodwill Store located at 7812 Lake June Rd. Pleasant Grove for over Twenty Years . During that time we have never expierenced such unethical behavior, is not a justified attitude from a Manager or senior associate at this location. The person in question is an afro-american eldely lady with a walking disablity. TODAY SHE REFUSED TO EVEN GIVE US HER NAME. We were there to buy a scale and we found one priced within our budget, it was priced at $4.99 it was not complete battery cover was missing. She took the scale from my hands and said it was not priced right and item was not for sale. There was no explanation of it should be $10.00 or whatever, unfortunately this is not the first time this lady has behaved in this manner to customers that have a language issue, I tolerated this behavior but not from the same person. Today was enough. Prior issues concerned small cabinet which we purchased listening to her telling my husband that if all parts were not included to return item, box was open and all he did was look into box to see how long it was. We do not live twenty miles away. Before that I tried to buy sandals that were priced at $3.99 and she said they were under priced and that price was $3.00 more, I told her I did not want them. Her response was, "for me to return sandals from where I had gotten them". This person needs to attend a Customer Awareness Meeting where I am sure she will not even notice her inability to appreciate Customer Satisifaction. I expect a response from Goodwill Industries, we donate the goods you resale to us. We do not need this behavior from someone that works for "GOODWILL".

Charged a different price from marked price
My co-worker just told me that she went to the above-refenced Goodwill shop this past weekend, and found a lamp. It had two Goodwill price tags, both indicating the lamp was $3.99. As she walked to the register with this lamp and her other items (clothing), a female employee stopped her and said, "What a beautiful lamp! How much is it?" My colleague told her, and the employee gasped, "There must be a mistake; let me find the guy who priced it." Turns out this woman was a manager, and she returned with a man from the stockroom, asking if he remembers pricing it. He did not. But the manager would not allow the cashier to sell this lamp at the marked price; my colleague said, "Well, how much then?" to which the manager replied, "I can't let that go for less than $8.99."
The manager said that "someone must've changed the stickers."
Since my colleague had already set her mind on purchasing it, and could see this manager only increased the price because she wanted the lamp for herself (and most likely thought the customer would leave without it), she paid the $8.99.
This story infuriorates me. Is it not illegal to demand a different price for an item that is already marked? What government agency regulates this?

Rude managers
I went to the Goodwill store in Brandon, FL located on highway 60. I found a purse that I really liked, especially since it appeared to be unused. However, there was not a price tag on the bag. So, instead of being dishonest and stealing a price tag from another item, I asked one of the girls in the back to please tell me how much the purse would cost. She came back and told me it would be $10.00!!! Here reason was that it was a name brand purse. I thought this was unreasonable since the rest of the purses (they have at least 100 in the store since it is a very large store) were priced $5.00 or less. Many of them were name brands!!! So, I asked the cashier if she would reduce the price to $5.00 like the rest of the purses. She was very rude and told me that they cannot change the price once they price the items. I asked to speak to a manager and instead of getting me in contact with her manager, she rudely re-stated what she had already told me. I asked her again, if I could please speak with a manager. Instead of allowing me to talk to the manager she walked over to the manager with the purse and started whispering to her. I then asked the manager to please price the purse the way the rest were priced because I did not feel the price was fair or correct. She WAS extremely rude and told me the same thing the cashier told me. I showed her another name brand purse that actually retails higher in stores and asked why it was priced $5.00 instead of $10.00. She just said the price was set in stone. I was very disappointed with how she handled the situation. I would very much like to speak with corporate or anyone who cares enough to make sure that these stores actually hold up to the values they so proudly say they represent. The manager's name was Allana. If anyone knows how we can get these complaints to the right hands, please contact me. Thanks!

Giant scam!
Get this! This guy that worked for Goodwill had a fire which resulted in a total loss. He came to work with no shoes on. He was sent home and received a writeup for showing up at work dressed inappropriately. He asked for clothes until he got paid and was refused. Also the employees were instructed not to give him money or anything. That tells you what kind of people run this place.
