My wife bought a wedding dress for her daughter at the Pepper Ferry Rd Goodwill near Blacksburg Va. It turned out to be too large for her daughter and she took it back to the same store the next morning. The girl at the checkout called the manager to see if she could get a refund. When hte manager arrived she began fussing at the checkout girl because a plastic hanger had been included with the dress.

MY wife was polite and respectful of this woman, but since she only had the credit card receipt for the purchase, was told that she could not get a refund or store credit either. My wife threw te dress on the counter, told the manger to keep it and stormed out.

A few observations - Goodwill wants to portray themselves as a legitimate and even upscale operation - but this kind of behavior shows what a second class act they truly are. If this manager thinks that we will ever walk in another Goodwill - she is wrong. If she thinks we will donate anything else - she is wrong. If she thinks this kind of behavior will not effect her bottom line she is wrong - if she thinks we won't try to take this up with the credit card company and the better business bureau she is wrong. If the company thinks that his sort management won't effect them overall they are wrong. If they think they can succeed with this sort of management then they are wrong - especially in these times what goes round comes round. Go on Badwill! Keep it up We will witness your demise. The local thrift stores are a hundred times more pleasant and reasonable to deal with.

I recently took 2 bookshelves in great condition to donate. When I pulled up, the guy that came out looked at them, squinched his nose at them and said, "They're in bad condition" I said, "What? No, actually they are in great condition."
He then went back there, reluctantly took them off the truck then asked if I wanted to donate to a kids charity fund. When I said, "I would but I have no cash on me.." the guy turned right around and walked back into the store.
Noticing this rude behavior, I loudly remarked, "YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY!" And he didn't even turn around or respond.

Now, I have been in this store many times and have noticed the literal GARBAGE they have in there.The last time I went in there, they were selling a carpet cleaner for $19.99 and we actually laughed at it because it was so filthy! The entire thing was clogged with dirt. Why would they not clean it out???
So they will accept nasty, dirty stuff but bitch about perfectly good bookshelves??

I was at the Goodwill in Cookeville, Tn. They had just opened up and I needed to use the restroom. When I got there, the door was propped open and a mop bucket was outside. I needed to go and really could not wait. When I came out of the stall a very rude female employee advised me that we were not to come into the bathroom while she was cleaning it. I was in such shock over her rudeness I was speechless. I guess cleaning the restrooms while the store is closed would make too much sense.

THEM SEEMS LIKE THEY NEED HELP WITH PRODUCTS IF THEY CAN THROWN AWAY PRODUCTS THEY CAN SEED THEM TO ANOTHER ONE OF THERE STORE AND KEEP THE MONEY WITHIN THE COMPANY OR GIVE IT TO FAMILIES WHO NEED HELP WITH THINGS LIKE THAT IF THEY GOING TO THROW IT AWAY GIVE IT AWAY I PISSES ME OFF BECAUSE IT'S VERY STRANGE TO ME TO DO THATA BUT IM GOING TO FIND A WAY TO GET THEM TO STOP DOING THAT IF IF I HAVE TO WRITE A LETTER THE THE MAYOR OF ROSWELL BECAUSE IM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO NEED HELP WITH CLOTHING AND FURNITURE AND ITS CRAZY BECAUSE THEY RATHER CRUSH PERFECTLY GOOD THINGS THAT CAN BE GIVEN TO A FAMILY IN NEED OR HELP THERE OTHER STORE TRY TO MAKE PROFIT ITS JUST WERID TO ME AND SO I HOPE SOMETHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT.

i have seen many things going on since the store first opened. this situation effected me. i went to make a purchase of a box unopened and sealed. the price was $6.97. as i was pulling this rather last box twards the register, someone who works at the warminster store asked if i wanted him to write on the box what was in in. (i didn't know!, i was in a "take a chance mood") sure i replied. he told me it was a basket ball hoop. i didn't think so, the weight felt more like a dismantled piece of furntiure. i then asked if he could open it up for me.he came back with premission to open it. all this took place on the selling flooor. when he went to open it, he drug the box into the "employees only" but the doors were open so i could see what i was buying. when it was opened it turned out to be some form of a electronic basketball shoot with 3 balls. he asked me if i astill wanted it, i replied "yes" he was staring to replace back in the box. just then the manager and a girl named "meg" come running over saying they will not sell it for the price on the item and started yelling to close the doors on me. i tried to explain how all of this happened. they now wanted time to appraise the item and price it. no one would listen to me. they shut the doors. i went to the register to pay for the other items i was purchasing and asked for a phone# to a superviser(no one knew it) the manager then comes over and tells me the item is now $39.99. i tried to explain again how this all came about. he was not interested. i am fine with goodwill pricing and i agree its for a good cause. i hated the way i was treated. like i was trying to steal it. which is funny because i have seen so much emplyee thieft in that store. the week of christmas 1 employee wheeled a shopping cart out of the back right to the register and another emplyee followed to ring her up. the same day while leaving i saw employees carring things from the customer drop off right to their cars. you have cameras, does anyone ever bother look at the tapes? i don't think the manager is involved but quite a few of the back room employees are. i can decribe the employees and their cars. the back room employees treat the custumers terrible. i believe the "company" of goodwill is of good standards but who are hiring these days?
