Horrible Service
The company I am having problems with is gorenter.com LLC. It started with their advertisement with the property they had listed on their website, gorenter.com. The listing stated that you get 1 month free rent. But it was failed to mention to us that the 1 month free rent started once we put the deposit down. Before we even moved in. Also, the listing stated that the house had all appliances. Which included refrigerator and washer & dryer. When we moved in there was none of those. When I called it was than explained to me that they were not going to be provided. The real problems started in January. I drove down on 12/31/10 to pay my rental bill. Their office is approximately a 45 min drive from our house. When I got there, the office was closed. I couldn’t even take the elevator upstairs to drop the payment in the door. So I went home and decided that I would drive down on 1/1/11. Which I did, and the office was locked up again with no access to the elevator. So on 01/4/11, I received a letter stating I had late charges which totaled $126.28. When I called to dispute the charges I was advised that they received my payment on 1/3/11 but it would not process until 01/4/11. I explained my situation and how I drove down twice to make payment and their offices were completely locked. They refused to issue any type of adjustment. I spoke to a “owner” of the company and he advised me that he can do a payment plan for the late fees $40 a month for 3 months to pay it. I agreed, which I still told him that I wanted to dispute the charges. He explained that a letter would be sent out to me, which it never was, explaining the arrangement. So I went online on 2/1/11 to pay my bill. And I noticed they took out the late fees from my deposit. When I called the company to question this I was told they did that as a courtesy, because of my financial situation. So I paid my current bill. I logged on 3/1/11 to pay my bill and the fee for the $117 was back on their and a fee for $35 for a registered letter that we never received. I called all day on 3/1/11 and no one returned my call. I was advised by the receptionist to pay the bill in full or I would be charged late fees again. So I did. The company is refusing to give me the credit back of $117. I have been in customer service for 13 years. I have never been treated like this from any company. The representatives are rude, degrading, condescending and just flat out unprofessional. As a consumer I want justice. I want something done to this company so that they don’t do it to anyone else. ATTENTION ALL RENTERS...DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID.

FRAUD MISREPRESENTATION
Do not use the company they do nothing but nickel and dime home owners to death. They do not explain all of their fees...and their representatives are rude, condisending and flat unprofessional. We would NEVER recommend this company. We have never in over a year...received a full month's rent. They always find a way to deduct something and the service fees they charge are nothing short of exstortion!!! DO NOT USE THEM...YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR RENTALS AS WE DID...DO NOT USE THEM!!! THEY ARE NO GOOD.

Immoral, unethical, horrible property management company!
Horrible, horrible, nightmare of a company to deal with! Highly unethical business practices, liars, cheats, you name it, they'll do it to you. My situation started with them almost immediately after moving into a lease/purchase option home they managed. We received a "3rd notice" from the local HOA notifying us that two palm trees in the front yard needed to be trimmed to HOA specs. After finding out the 1st and 2nd notices had been received prior to us ever signing into an agreement, we thought we'd have no issue getting gorenter.com to take care of the issue. Yeah, right!! They said it was our responsibility, as we signed for the property in the condition it was in. Okay, let's get this straight (and they were advised of this by me), you received notice one month before we moved in that the trees needed to be trimmed, and now it's my responsibility to pay to get them trimmed, when obviously this should have been done prior to us ever moving in? Yes, that's correct, was gorenter's statement. They even threatened us about the whole issue, and couldn't care less that they were in the wrong.
That was our 1st issue with them, and there would be many more to come as we continued our horrific 2 yr lease/purchase with them. Many of the other examples are just samples of lies from them, them not returning phone calls, stating they would do something, and having them not do it, etc...
They posted our funds to incorrect accounts, constantly didn't return phone calls. When they did call us, and ONLY for their benefit, their calls were always of a threatening nature. Even their so-called "Tenant Relations" department is a complete joke. They obviously only work for the bottom dollar of gorenter.com, and have absolutely no interest in actually doing what their department name suggests: Tenant Relations.
They're fools. They're losing clients, and obviously don't care. How can you run a business this way? I don't get it, but they DO IT!!

Oh, and if you think they're doing anything for the property owners, go look up their own claims on their website where they state they "visit the properties three times each year...blah, blah, blah to inspect them" and such. What a pile of bull!! If you're a homeowner, know this: They have NEVER shown up at our property to inspect squat! You think they're looking out for you? Think again!!

Property Management or Mismanagement?
Our first headache was with a refrigerator with live wires exposed. We contaced GoRenter mutiple times and always got transferred to voicemail without a return phone call for months. Finally, they responsded with, "All appliances are supplied 'as is.'" We ultimately had to purchase a new refrigerator.

The next biggest issue was an HOA fine of $20. We contacted the HOA, explained the confusion, and the fine was waived. 2 days later, GoRenter sent out landscapers that did no work and charged $115 to our account with GoRenter. We contacted GoRenter, and of course was transferred to voicemail, and explained that the HOA had contacted GoRenter 2 days ago and that the issue had been resolved. Conveniently, GoRenter denied every getting that call.

First of all, who sends landscapers to a rental lot for a $20 fine? ...and who sends landscapers to a rental lot on a waived $20 fine? GoRenter. That's who. Our guess is that the landscapers are related to someone in the office.

To top it all off, they sent a certified letter to an alternate address and billed us $35 for this. Each month following, they sent the same certified letter to the alternate address and again billed us $35 per mailing. We contacted GoRenter and asked them why they send these letters to a different address that we never supplied them with, their response was, "because we can." The truth is quite simple. It's because they hope that we never get them.

After several months of pulling teeth and hair, we paid the $150 in dispute to avoid eviction. They accepted the check and sent us a friendly letter to a different address stating, "Thanks for paying the $150 but a balance of $130 still remains on your account." We contacted them again and was transferred to voicemail (see a pattery here?) and they returned our call stating that the $130 was interest accrued on the $150.

To make a long story short, they summoned us to court. We presented our case to the justice of peace who literally doodled while we were presenting our case, and GoRenter was rule the victor for over $2000 in late fees for the $150 and $130.

We have been renters for over 3 years which was of no consequence to the GoRenter. They are obviously not concerned with retention which speaks volumes for their ethics.

I"m sure we're not the only victims in their careless path, but they really need to restructure their management. Avoid them like the plague.

Rental scam/consumer abuse
I entered into an agreement with GoRenter in April 2008. The experience was a nightmare from the point of signing the contract. For one, I was misled regarding the monthly rent of the property and was not informed until appearing to sign the lease agreement that the rent would be $50 more than advertised. The explanation was I had to pay taxes. In retrospect I realize that was an outright lie. That was just their way of padding the rent to skim off their own profit. Further a few days after moving in the owner arrived shocked that I had moved in because he stated he had asked they not rent the house because he needed to sell. This company is merciless and nasty. Bottom line. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere and save ourself stress. Don't be fooled by your initial interactions with them. It all falls apart once the rental agreement is signed.
