ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC Customer Service!
I ordered four plush dolls as well as some bandages from Gorey Details on March 28, 2011. As the other complaints have noted, I immediately received my receipt of purchase which included the delivery time frame as 2-3 days from purchase. I am an avid internet shopper, and I know these are just estimates, so I gave it around 7 days.
Having not received my order after 9 days had passed (April 6, 2011), I wrote the company via email, to inquire about my order. They responded on April 9th, 2011 with this message:
"Please accept our apologies for the delay.
Thank you for checking in on this - we are sorry to have concerned you.
Unfortunately, we are having difficulty filling your order at this time.
It may be another week before we can get this out to you.
Please let us know if you are unable to wait, and we will issue a refund."
At this point I was very concerned... it MAY be another week before they can send my items? I responded back to them asking them if they would have a better estimation, because the plush dolls I ordered were for my childrens' Easter baskets. After receiving ZERO response, I wrote them again on April 13, 2011 requesting to cancel the order.
Yesterday, April 18, 2011 I checked my bank account as well as my account on their site. No refund, and my order status still shows as processing. I wrote Gorey Details one last time to notify them that I would be requesting a charge reversal through my bank, who has given my account a credit while they further investigate.
I had Gorey Details "friended" on Facebook, what really irked me is how they can continue to advertise their "SPRING SALE!!" every day. They have the time to post on Facebook, yet no time to respond to people who have already paid for their products. Very shady if you ask me! I am a very patient person, but the blatant disregard they have for their customers is beyond ridiculous, and I only hope that this complaint will help to educate potential customers to stay away from this retailer.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
On 3/30/11 I ordered 9 rubber stamps from the Gorey Details online store. I paid via Credit Card and was immediately sent a receipt for my purchase. In the receipt email it states that my order will be shipped via Priority Mail which takes 2-3 days.
The stamps cost $50 and the postage cost $9.35.
A week later I had not received my order or heard anything more from the store, so I emailed them requesting an update on my order.
They responded the next day saying they were sorry to have concerned me and they "hope to have it on it's way sometime this week". That is about as vague as you can get. They hope? They should KNOW. "Sometime" this week? So, it could be Monday morning or it could be Friday night??? Big difference.
They also said they were waiting on a shipment that was taking longer that usual to arrive. So in theory I might not get my order for weeks...
This aggravates me because I ordered stamps from them late last year and the EXACT same scenario took place. After my order was placed I didn't hear from them for about 10 days until I emailed them and asked what was going on. And they said they were waiting on a shipment blah blah blah. Plus there was a big screw-up with their PayPal link, so I was charged twice and they blamed that on the new website and the programmer that was building it for them.
So basically, they take NO responsibility for ANYTHING.
I just hoped that was a single bad experience, and otherwise I was happy with the actual product.
Fast forward to now and I responded to their above email on April 9 and stated my opinion that it is their responsibility to provide the customer (me) with information on the status of my order. Their apology did not suffice, because I need those stamps for a project that has a deadline and I probably won't make it now because of their terrible service.
I requested a refund on the postage costs or for my items to be upgraded to overnight shipping at no extra cost. As of today, April 13, I have received no reply and no refund.
This store is run by either 3rd graders or monkeys, possibly both.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
They are just selling stuff you can get anywhere else online. Keep looking and save yourself the hassle of dealing with these fools.

I would not ever use this website again
HORRIBLE, AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I wanted a specific shirt and located it at goreydetails.net. When I placed the order, the item listed with both a childs size and the adult size. I tried to use their self-service form to let the seller know that I wanted the adult size. However, I could not use that form and still use PayPal. So I placed the order and immediately e-mailed the seller about the issue, saying I only wanted the adult size. The seller immediately replied that I had ordered a child size. When I responded that I wanted to cancel my order if the adult size was not available, then all communication stopped. Since it was on the weekend, I waited until the next business day to send another e-mail. Still no response. I filed a complaint with PayPal; still no response. Waited a day and requested a reply through PayPal again; still no response. 7 days after my first e-mail, they finally replied (just before midnight) that my order was cancelled and a refund was being made. It is odd that they finally responded just hours before my complaint with PayPal could be escalated. I would not EVER use this website again. There is no excuse for not responding to my post-cancellation e-mails for 7 days. NONE!
