Free Government Grants were offered on the internet via my email. To find if you were considered a candidate for one of these "free" grants, information about me was taken at the request of the site. After filling out all the information you were told the lucky outcome. You are indeed qualified for one of these "free" government grants" or even many grants. For only the cost of a small shipping and handling charge, ($1.95) you would be mailed a CD with all the information you need for getting all this wonderful free money from the Government. Of course, after months went by and my forgetting about even looking at the website with this free government grant invitation, my Credit Union called and told me of this suspicious activity on my account. I was being bilked out of $71.98 one month and $69.95 for three months after that. I called one of the two 888 numbers that was listed on the charge. Both numbers were from different states. But it was the same company. I called the number only to be told that I would not get my money back and that the site "CLEARLY" displayed that you had seven days to review the CD and consider if you wanted this company to bilk you out of $69.95 every month or not.
I am on a disability and receive a pension from this disability. My funds are deposited directly into my Government Credit Union Account. If the Credit Union had not called and informed me of this suspicious activity, it may have gone on for longer than it did. I know it seems strange that I did not notice it. But, when you are not looking to be robbed, you just expect the statement from your Credit Union to list the same expenses that you have had for the last ten years. The same health expenses, food expenses, utilities, rent. When you only make $1100.00 a month, the money is spent exactly the same every month. With little or no expenses other than the very same sad necessities as last month and the month before, etc. Who ever gets to purchase anything other than the very least of necessities when you have such a sad income as I do? As I said, I am disabled and have to have assistance with things sometimes. My friend is helping me at this very moment with the filing of this complaint. We did call the 888 number and was told that we had every opportunity to cancel as it was displayed openly and "CLEARLY" on the site that a seven day window would provide this questionable company to bill you $69.95 every month. What do you get for the monthly charge? More bilking. Only from another company.
I received calls week after week from this other company. They were out of Salt Lake City Utah. Each time I would try to call the number back, I was informed that this number was disconnected and could not be reached. Yet, a few days later, I would again receive a call from this very number out of Salt Lake City Utah. Finally, I had the opportunity to answer. I asked the person on the other end why his number, when called back, informs that the phone number is not in service. I also asked this person why he was associated with a company that would bilk you out of money in the fashion in which I was bilked. This caller replyed that he has heard a lot of things about this grant funding search and none of it had been good. Well, but now he on the other hand is different. Now he is the person who wants to help the poor, desperate people looking for help in the form of a grant. He, unlike grant funding search, wants to find out if I am serious about getting this grant. But, he insisted, before he could bilk me out of more money on his end of the deal, he had to know that I was certain that I needed a grant and how much grant money I wanted. I asked that he call me back the next day. He was insistant on the fact that his was a legitimate company and that he was appalled at the way grant funding search had treated me. Of course, he never called me back.
How can the American people be frauded by all this grant stuff. We do hear that there are grants for people, but it all seems a fairy tale. The grant help scams that these thieves are giving is spreading this Country like a cancer. The American people need to have some help fighting these grant schemes. Most of us cannot even pay our monthly bills. I for one can tell you that my health costs consume most of my monthly disability benefit. You pray that this is real help that is offered. But then you find that the little money you have has been stolen from you. With me being disabled and having some time to put to use, I plan on doing everything that I can to put an end to some of this scamming from the very people who promise help. There has to be something done about these people who come in and steal from the most needy of the American people. I know that there is probably real help out there for people who do need help. But how does one know when you are being scammed and when you are not? It has cost me hundreds of dollars and I am not willing to just give that kind of money away without a fight. These types of scam businesses need to be shut down. More regulation and even some victims assistance needs to be provided to the American people who have been robbed in this way. The people who are being scammed are the ones who can least afford it. The old, the poor, the disabled, the person who wants to try to better themselves to provide more money for their families. Only to get themselves kicked again while they are down. And the people who are taking this money are so arrogant when you call them. "You were warned." It was "clearly stated that you would be robbed." "That's your tough luck for not being more aware of the devil's masking as angels." The scammer from Salt Lake City Utah actually had the audacity to equate himself with the OBAMA Administration by providing me a website that shows where grant money if being distributed to different departments in different states. Like that was some kind of proof of his legitimacy. Most poor people are too ashamed to admit that they have lost money to these thieves. That is one reason they are able to continue robbing people openly on the Internet. Another is that the amout stolen from us is sometimes so small that the law doesn't care that much about helping. It may be small peanuts to some but to the victim it is all they have. Some suffer for months having to pay this debt. With the small income I receive on disability, this theft hurt. I will have to cut back to pay it off. We victims need help. I guess this is a good place to start.
