On March 17, 2009, I applied for a grant through GWRN working with MIA DILLARD. She would call me regularly with my application needs. I had trouble with my bank's taking the $1100. out in one transaction, so Mia supposably talked to her supervisor and she lowered the amount down to $995.00. I, too, was given more than two grant proposals. One of them being the Foundation For Social Equity out of Las Vegas, NV. On 4/30/09, I received an email from them stating that due to them receiving an unusual volume of requests, it would take them six to eight weeks OR more to process all of the applications. I have tried emailing them to no degree of getting a response. I have tried calling the grant research people, and now I only get a recording to leave my name and phone number and they will get back in contact with me soon(what do THEY define "soon")?
This money would have come in handy for my wife and I. I have had three surgeries on my knee and now I have lost my health insurance because I can not go back to work, due to the fact that my leg is weak. I work in a produce dept of a grocery. My medical bills have piled up, we can't get our medications. I am just getting social security disability; but every bill is past due. What does a person in this mess do?
