My card has just been charged with $57.61. Please! I would like a refund and an account cancellation if any... This is a big scam! As I struggle to make ends meet, there are people out there who has nothing better to do but scam people... Why would you take money from someone without authorization? I WANT MY MONEY THAT I WORKED HARD FOR BACK!

Terrible experience
I had visited a website called grants.gov, about a month later on October 20, 2008, I was contacted by grants.gov (aka) Grant Opportunities by mail. They had stated that a grant was approved for me in the amount of $40, 000.00. They had sent a check along with this approval letter for the sum of $2, 950.00. They said that the check was from one of their sponsors and that I was to use the money to pay for Federal and State processing fees. I called Grant Opportunities at the customer service number that was giving. I talked to a women named Dorthy, who said all I had to do is deposit the check, wait for it to clear, then call them back to pay the processing fees.
Well, I deposited the check into my checking account, after a couple of days I checked with my bank and they told me the check had cleared. So, I called Grant Opportunities back to let them know this. I talked to the same lady who said that my fees was to be withdrew and sent to them by Western Union.
She said my fees was $2, 710 and I was to Western Union it to their Process Department which is in Atlanta Ga. and the manager name was Ramond Laplant. She told me to call them back with the confirmation number.
I sent the money to their process department and called them back. She took the confirmation number and told me she would call me the next day to let me know that the check has been mailed out. Well, the next day came and I did not hear from this company. I have called them but get a recording that says they are out of the office.
Today, October 25, 2008, I called my bank to check my balance so I could buy something I needed, and I am in the negative the whole $2, 950 plus overdraft fees. I called my banks 800 number and I was told that the check was a fake. Now I'm wondering why would the bank clear it if it was a fake check.
Also, this Grant Opportunities, when they answered the phone they sounded like a real company. The website thats on their letter Grants.gov, is so real. My husband tried to check them out, but everything kept coming back good.
Now we are in a bind, bills are due and we need to buy food for are kids. I will never again trust any more grant letters. We have been scammed by Grant Opportunities.
