Owner is RUDE!!
The minute my friend and I walked in his tone was obnoxious and unfriendly. Never again will I go back to Gravity Rock Climbing Gym!

Terrible Owner
I recently booked a Church youth group activity at this facility. This was not our first time, as the last time we did not have any issue at all. However this time around, it was extremely difficult to deal with the owner, as he was a complete idiot.
So I called the Gravity Climbing Gym two weeks in advance that we were coming as group of anywhere between 15-20 people. I requested for 5:00pm, but he told me it was booked already, and that the only available time would be 3:00pm, I was fine with this. On the day of our scheduled time, we arrived there with only 12 people, 8 less than expect. When i got there it seemed fishy, them seemed to want to rush us and get us all gear up, but i said to the guy at the desk, I'd like to know the total cost, he was hesitant to tell me. Then when i asked again, he said he had to charge me for the full 20 people because that's what we booked for. I told him I would rather pay the regular rate then the group rate if i had to pay for 20, he said it was unacceptable that I would talk to the owner.
When the owner arrived, Reid Monk, was his name, he was polite at first, but when I mention to him, that we didn't have the full 20 people, he began to get agitated. I tried to negotiate with him, and said that I don't mind paying for 3 extra people (totaled 15) but i didn't want to pay for 20 people. That was when he got angry, and flipped out at me telling me it's a life lesson for all those who canceled on me. He said this in a very rude manner, and began to yell, in front of all the other people there. I thought, what kind of owner is this, yelling at a customer in front of other customers. When I mention to him I would rather pay the $100 cancellation fee, he first said no, and that my people are already taking part in the session. I said no, they're not, they're just getting strapped in, and then I insisted I'd rather pay the cancellation fee than for the extra 8 people (would of cost $200 ore more) his tone change, he began to call us names, and telling me that we should leave.
So we left, I could not believe the kind of person he was, an owner of an establishment, yelling at paying customers, especially second time customers too. I wrote a complaint to the better business bureau of Hamilton, I really hope he's happy with his $100. Never will i step foot in it Gravity Climbing Gym again. For those looking to do rock climbing in Hamilton, there's a better place down the road in Burlington, it's worth the 20 minutes drive.

Waste of money
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! THIS IS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER!
My girlfriend pre-paid for her and I to take rock climbing lessons as a Christmas gift. She was told that she needed to book at least 2 days ahead of time. Seeing as our anniversary was also coming up, we decided that we would make a weekend out of it and rock climb on Saturaday. My girlfriend booked 3 days ahead of time, fulfilling the request of the owner. The lessons were scheduled for Jan 22, 2010 at noon because they open at noon.
As we live right around the corner and it would only take 10 minutes to arrive, we left 15 minutes ahead of time, giving ourselves plenty of time. While on our way, the owner contacted my girlfriend asking where we were and was very rude to her on the phone. Taken back, she explained that we were almost there and she confirmed that the appointment was at noon. He aggressively said "yes, noon and its 12:03." he continues "there are 6 other people waiting and you are going to miss the lesson and I'm going to charge your credit card a $30 deposit for missing the lesson." Obviously seeing there was urgency, I drove as fast as I could and got to the Gravity Climbing gym at 12:02, by my clock.
When we got inside, we were expecting that we could join the class, if it had already started. There was a person at the front desk who greeted us and was kind, until he knew who we are. Once he realized that we were the "late ones" he instantly said the class has started and you have missed it and you can't take part today. I looked at his clock and it was ahead, but by that time it was only 12:10.
Him and I began to argue and I was shocked at what horrendous customer service he was giving us and I asked to speak to the owner...can you believe it, he was the owner! "I have 6 other GOOD CUSTOMERS taking part in this class as well, we aren't going to wait for you!" he explained with quite possibly the WORST tone of voice that could come from the OWNER, of all people.
After a good 5 minutes of him and I arguing and him blaming us that we were SO late for his class, he charged my girlfriend�s credit card an extra $30 for missing the class, on top of the $80 for the classes she had already paid for. A "giftcard" he called it (lame business cards, with "please book ahead" scratched on it) he said we could not get our money back.
Rather than working out a solution for us or helping us understand why he didn't call us and confirm that our appointment was at noon and would be starting at noon sharp, or helping to rebook our appointment, I told him and my girlfriend that i didn't want to spend the time in someone's gym who did not respect new clients and he said "that's fine, the nearest climbing gym is in burlington".
For all of you in the Hamilton, Ontario region and are new to rock climbing, do yourself a favor and go directly to burlington. Gravity climbing gym obviously does not understand what it means to treat people right and with respect, especially new clients!
WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!
