My daughter-in-law wanted to try Pro-Active, but didn't have a credit card to use for the first shipment (the trial). The trial was only 4.99, and it was around Christmas time, so I told her she could use my card.
The five dollar shipment wound up being a charge of 4.99 and two additional charges of 33.94. As soon as I saw them on my statement, I notified my d-i-l and told her she needed to get my card off her account. She called the next day and had them remove my card from the account and put hers on.
That was back in February of '09 and I just got my credit card statement for May '09 and they are still charging me for the monthly shipments, and apparently they are charging her for the shipments as well.
Talk about a scam. The Pro-Active stuff doesn't work any better than stuff you can get at the local pharmacy for a lot less, and after you figure that out, there is no way to stop them from continuing to charge you card after you cancel.
