This is a WARNING to prospective carpet customers of Great Floors LLC in Meridian, ID. Our experience with that particular store indicates that their store policy is caveat emptor, i.e., "Let the buyer beware!" In purchasing our carpet ($35/sq yd), we specifically requested a carpet of such quality that it would not readily show traffic patterns. Upon their recommendation and assurances, we purchased a Karastan (now owned by Mohawk) carpet, plus we had been very satisfied with Karastan carpets in the past.
However, eight months after installation, the carpet began looking very shoddy and worn. This was later identified as "corn rowing", a condition common in low-density (and I assume, lesser quality?) carpets. That is NOT what requested or were told that we were buying. We notified Great Floors in April 2009, ten months after installation. Now, after six months of back and forth with the store, Karastan, and Mohawk, their only attempt at resolution has been an offer to replace our $35/sq yd with a $20/sq yd carpet. To get a better quality carpet, such as we should have gotten initially, we would have to pay the difference. If that sort of customer support is acceptable to you, go ahead and buy your carpet there. However, I definitely would NOT recommend it.
