I am a small business owner who is a CLEAR Authorized retailer. A customer who does not have a credit card bought a Greendot Card at Walgreens to purchase CLEAR service . We have processed CLEAR Transactions on prepaid VISA Cards before so we assumed it would be no problem . After loading the card with $225 (and waiting an hour because Walgreens doesn't submit payment until then) We attempt to process payment . The card comes back as declined. We contact Greendot "customer service" they claim the merchant does not accept Greendot...wrong. Then they claim because the customer does not have his permanent card yet the transaction can not be processed...wrong again. Supposedly the temporary card is fully usable for purchase/ service transactions until the permanent one arrives, the only restriction is no ATM transactions where a PIN # is needed on temporary card. When We called their customer service line and the message for the declined transactions was "TRANSACTION TYPE NOT ALLOWED ON THIS CARD".
BOTTOM LINE... After waiting over an hour we were never able to process the transaction ; so in addition to wasting all of our time, P***ing Off the Customer and me, My company lost the CLEAR Sale and a computer sale . TOTAL DAILY LOSSES... Customer $225 ... My Company $316 for Tablet/ Laptop and Comission from CLEAR of minimum $135.
I WILL NEVER RECCOMEND GREEN DOT TO ANYONE EVER AGAIN and I WILL WARN EVERYONE I KNOW ABOUT THEM.
