Late last year my dad received an SMS on his pre-paid Vodacom cell phone offering him R30 free airtime if he replied 'YES'. He did and got a message back to say that he would receive the airtime within the next 10 days. He never received the free airtime instead he noticed that there was a debit order on his Standard Bank cheque account for an amount of R151 which he had not authorised. Upon investigation it was established that this company that call themselves Green Green are 5 people in an office somewhere in Cape Town and they told me that they had bought the rights to Sanlam's call centre operations and had thus obtained my dad's banking details and that by him replying 'YES' they had then put through this debit order.
Standard Bank to their credit were very good about it and immediately reversed the debit order and put a stop on it. When I contacted the company Green Green they would not give me much information on how their operations worked unless I gave them my cell phone number. Which I refused so they put the phone down on me.
I just want to warn people that this is a complete **** and don't be fooled by it as you will get ripped off.
