Greenway Van lines Reviews

Lost Goods
I contracted this company to move from New York to Florida in August of 2009. Greenway Van Lines contracted a mover company from New Jersey to pick up my personal goods that were all packed in cartons and numbered and labeled by myself. Greenway Van Lines neglected to do a credit check on this subcontractor called Speed Link USA D/B/A Accurate Moving Services. The subcontractor that picked up my things were only two men and they neglected to list on the bill of lading 3 of my cartons which I bought to their attention and also the sales rep at Greenway Van Lines. They kept assuring me that everything would be fine and I would receive my things. Well, the three cartons which I packed while they were picking up the rest, were the cartons that were not delivered. I filed a claim with this Accurate Moving Service company per Greenway Van Lines and never heard from them since February of 2010 when Mr. Joseph Ashdot from Accurate and one of the man of the day of the pickup also, said to me that by law they have 6 months to process the claim. I tried to send an email today 8/4 for a status on that claim and the email was returned due to email address not found. I lost personal things of value. If I do not receive any compensation, then I want more people to know about these types of businesses that have no respect for people that are paying already alot for the service and still are riped off. The law also does nothing to protect our rights and allow these type of companies to register their business. I will also be reporting them to other agencies where consumers can be aware of these schemes. SB (Florida)

Scam
We have many complaints when it comes to Greenway including an original quote of 5, 000 which increased to 13, 000 upon arrival of our furnishings. My husband and I spent a vast amount of time compiling a list of each and every item that would be shipped.

It took an entire two weeks to receive our furnishings in what we were told would be a two day trip.

The movers arrived a day late after several phone calls to Dave, the dispatcher, as he assured us they would be there as scheduled. When they arrived we told them the truck would never hold all of the contents of our house but they assured us it would. It didn't. We had to leave as we were driving to our new state. The packers/movers took 2 extra days to pack the contents of our home. We were charged for the extra truck they required as well as as the expense to acquire said truck. Our realtor arrived at our home on their last "full day" of packing to find the entire house open, doors wide open and only a mattress and ironing board remaining. Yet the we were told they had an entire day of packing left. We found out that the packers were pulled from our house to go to another job to unload. They did not leave with our furnishings for another two days.

We were in constant contact with Greenway through the entire move. Most of the time dealing with a receptionist who would tell us the dispatcher Dave, was not available and she had no information for us. We were given many different excuses as to why we hadn't received our furnishings which included many side trips to other jobs to help unload other trucks along the way. Dave spent many days telling us that our shipment would arrive later that day. Later that day would always come with no trucks arriving. I spent many long days waiting at an empty house for nothing. We were never able to get anyone on the phone until another day or two. Always an excuse but never a truck. This went on for two weeks. As I said previously our original estimated cost of 5, 000 was increased to 13, 000 which we were told about on the last day of packing. When we did finally receive our shipment many of our items were damaged or missing. We actually watched one of the movers drop a desktop computer on the pavement only to "scoop" it back into the box with his foot. No apology. We watched in shock and horror.

No we did NOT file a complaint for our items. We suffered a great personal tragedy on the final day of our move which I will not get into here. Our nerves were completely shot after spending the last two weeks dealing with this company. We just wanted to be in our new home and have our belongings.

I can't warn people enough of this company's practices. They are deceitful and corrupt. They are the nicest people to deal with when making the original arrangements. They bend over backwards to assure you that everything will work out exactly as they have stated. Once they arrive at your home, you are screwed.

Over charged for moving services
We contracted with Greenway Van lines to move us from Florence, SC to FResno, California for $3500. Our Plans changed due to a family emergency and we when back to Florence. Our furiture moved from Florence to Atlanta and then back again and we were charged for the full move to California. Greenway did not communicate with us at all except to let us know there would be no adjustment to our price. Very unprofessional company that I would not rehire to move a truckload of COW DUNG IN THE FUTURE. They stink as a company. Please do not use them for any moving services

Lies
Greenway Van Lines has got to be the worse company in all of the moving industry. They tell you everything you want to hear until they have your deposit and items loaded onto their trucks then it all goes downhill from there. You have no way of knowing where you items are it seems as though they dont even know. They gave me a reasonable quote but added an additional amount that was almost twice as much as the original quote. I call only to be placed on hold for anywhere from 20-45 minutes. I was told last Wed. that a manager would call me regarding the additional charges and I have yet to recieve that phone call.

LIARS,SCAMMERS
Greenway Van Lines is the worst company to do business with. They are unable to remove everybodies complaints so they pose as happy customers and add things to websites like this and to the BBB customer reviews. Do not fall victim to their attempts to rekindle there reputation by posing as satisfied customers. They have recently received a NR rating with the BBB, yet still have it posted on their website that they are rated by the BBB. These people are horrible and will take your money and give you horrible service and there will be nothing you can do about if you want your stuff delivered. Is it really worth it to save a small amount of money and use this company and have your credit card charged for rediculous charges and have your precious items returned to you broken or missing? Please do your reasearch and notice all the positive reviews for this company came at a time when the BBB was receiving the most complaints and decided that they weren't worthy of a rating.

HONEST COMPANY
I have recently contacted Greenway Van Lines for a move from Arizona to New York and they where excellent this company has provide me with top service, I read on these boards regarding Greenway Van Lines and most of the issue is due to the customer not reading the entire contract or disputing for items they had extra. I had extra items to, and I was expected to pay for the extra items of course Greenway Van Lines locked their rate the way they said they would. Bottom Line Greenway Van Lines is a very honest company and I will recommend to everyone, After reading some of these thread I notice that these customer are just complaining because they had extra items and is trying to pull a fast one on greenway van lines if any one is scamming is these customer complaining on the complaint board trying to get something for nothing. For those complaint and trying to scam greenway you should be a sham of your self!!! AGREENWAY VAN LINES IS THE BEST COMPANY AND I WILL USE THEM AGAIN AND I WILL RECOMMAND TO EVERYONE. THANK YOU GREENWAY VAN LINES FOR A JOB WELL DONE!!

False promises and rude behavior
At first my experiences with Greenway Van Lines were rather pleasant. I talked to Sergio on the phone and he was very friendly and took his time explaining everything to me. The estimated costs were similar to other companies I had contacted previously, and the reason why I chose Greenway Van Lines is that Sergio actually guaranteed a delivery date, so I could just take a flight to the new apartment on that day and receive my stuff.

The trouble began when I contacted Sergio again on the delivery day, wondering why I hadn't heard from them. He told me that my stuff would arrive in about 4-5 days. When I pointed out to him that he had promised me a much earlier delivery date, and that I depended on this delivery date since I just arrived in an empty apartment (no bed, towels, kitchen supplies etc.), he suddenly got rude, even yelled at me and threatened to send everything back to where they picked it up. It was like talking to a completely different person. I should say that I was very calm and friendly when I talked to him (despite the obvious mistake on their part), and didn't do anything to deserve such rude and disrespectful behavior.

I strongly discourage anyone from using this moving company, and in particular from believing anything they tell you before you sign the contract. I'm still waiting for my things to arrive and can only hope that - this time - they will keep their word.

Scam artists
I recently used greenway van lines for a movement from St Louis to Minneapolis and had a horrible experience with them!! I wish I had read the reviews and taken them seriously before using them. I totally agree that they are very unprofessional and their main goal is to get your money any way possible, they tell you everything you want to hear on the phone (I spoke to someone named Sergio) and at the time of the move the circumstances were completely different than I expected (they let me talk to their manager at the time by the name of Dave) Briefly I'm going to list a few of the points that were very disappointing and actually happened:

1. They gave me a guaranteed quote of about $1500 and that it would not exceed that price as long as I moved the same items that I listed (that was the main reason I used them not knowing before hand that it was a total rip-off), of course during the move the items listed took more space than they initially evaluated and I ended up paying more than $3000!!
2. The movers were supposed to come between 8am and 5 pm and of course they appeared at 5pm.
3. On the phone they guaranteed me space for all my items and the truck arrived with another load and after packing about two thirds of my items they told me that they ran out of space because the load they already had occupied more space than they expected!! And I was left around midnight with about a third of my stuff still laying around and had to arrange for another move myself (extra expenses!!)
4. they moved my stuff into one truck and it arrived in another truck, because of that my furniture arrived scratched and several items were broken including a lamp that cost about $700, they don't mention the insurance prior to the move and of course it was as bad as the company giving only 60 cents per pound so crystals or lamps or other valuable items that are light weight are of no value if broken therefore I suffered the loss.
5. They give you a range between 7-21 days and you have no idea were your stuff is in the meantime.
6. When they arrived they made sure they insisted on the rest of the payment before they unloaded my items or they would have refused to unload my stuff. After they unloaded the told me about the broken items.
7. During this time I was in contact with their manager Dave who was extremely rude!!! And again it was clear that all they wanted was the money.
In summary, it was a really painful experience which I'm trying to forget. I have never dealt with such unprofessionalism and I would certainly never use them again. The one positive thing about the whole situation was that the movers themselves were decent and tried to be helpful although again a lot of my furniture was scratched and my lamp was broken.
I also want to mention that in a prior move I had used the PODs system and that was actually much better. You pay exactly what you're told and it was overall a very good deal. They appeared on time and were very professional and our stuff arrived in less than a week. You do have to move your stuff yourself though or get someone to help. I hope this review is helpful to anyone moving.

BEWARE, Liars, Charged me $650 for zero service, didn't show up on scheduled pickup day, poor customer service
Hey folks. I wanted to report an experience that I had with Greenway Van Lines earlier this year. I’m reporting it now late because I had been waiting to see if Greenway pursued my bank to steal the unauthorized cancellation fee they charged my bank account earlier this year. Let me tell you, once you give this company your credit card, you can kiss customer service good bye. Read how Greenway Van Lines managed to take $650 from me without showing up at my house or ever lifting a box. Below please find a report I filed to my bank to dispute an unauthorized charge from Greenway Van Lines.

Initially, I received a phone call from an individual named Shawn at Greenway Van Lines. For every question I asked, he gave me an answer that was exactly what he thought I wanted to hear. The phone call was on or about 2/11/09.
I was told all of the following, all of which turned out NOT to be true:
1) Greenway would allow a two day range of when I’d like my things picked up AND that I could change the date later on.
2) I was told that the same company that moves my stuff will pick up my car. Not true. I was also told that the auto transport would happen the same day as the traditional moving of my stuff. Didn’t happen.
3) I was told the move would take 3-7 days. When I actually received the contract it said 7-21 days to the Midwest. I figured I couldn’t fight this so I just accepted.
4) I was told that I would receive a phone call the day before the move from Greenway to confirm that they were coming and we’re on schedule.
5) I was told that I could schedule an early A.M. pick up.

The very next day after the initial call, I called Greenway and spoke to Shawn again and asked to change the move date to Friday, 2/20 so I don’t have to take an additional vacation day and since I was starting a new job on that Monday. The roadtrip would take about twenty five hours of driving and I would be driving my own car after Greenway picked up my stuff. Without hesitation, Shawn obliged and changed the date. Unfortunately, I never received that change in writing, which would turn out later to be a killer. Now, on the day before the move, Thursday 2/19, I called in to confirm that all is ready for the Friday pickup because I never received that confirmation call. Again, Shawn tells me all is good. He’s got me for a Friday morning pickup. I accepted Shawn’s word and was confident based on our conversation that the movers were coming the next day.
But, Friday is where the nonsense begins. Now, the day before when I spoke to Shawn, he explained that I have an 8:00 Friday morning picked which means, in his words, the movers would likely get there around 9:30. When 9:30 Friday morning rolled around and no one had showed up, I called in to Greenway and spoke with Shawn again. But when he heard my voice, his first response was to ask me something, “Did you have a question?”. I said yes, we’ve got a Friday pickup and I’m waiting for the truck. He put me on hold and looked in his records. “Nope, you’re scheduled for tomorrow, 2-5.” I said “I called to change the date last week, you know that already”. Shawn apologized and said that he sent me an e-mail regarding the change to Friday. He also said he sent an e-mail to the dispatcher about the change but in his words "it never went through". I never received that e-mail either.
I asked to speak to the manager, David, who is also the “dispatcher”, to complain. He confirmed that I was scheduled for Saturday, 2-5. I complained about the lying from Shawn. I also complained about the auto transport not happening on the same day as the move. At that moment, Greenway contacted the actual auto transporter, and they in turn called me to give me a pickup date.
After Friday morning, Greenway deemed me as a hostile customer because every time I called in, I needed to be transferred to David, the manager/supervisor/dispatcher. On Saturday, Greenway’s new move date for me, I called in around noon to confirm that Greenway was coming and spoke with Shawn again, but this time he introduced himself with a different name and changed his voice so I wouldn’t recognize him. I asked him to confirm that Greenway was coming out to pick up my stuff today. He told me that he doesn’t have access to my file and that I would have to call back in 20-30 when the manager (Dave) comes back from lunch. So I ended that call. Angry at this point, I called back one minute later. The manager Dave picks up this time, obviously back from lunch earlier than expected ;-). I wanted to know what time I should expect a pickup, I asked. He had no idea, but that I was still scheduled for 2-5 but said he would know more by around two pm. I asked him to please call me before or at two to give me an update. Keep in mind that it’s Saturday afternoon and I start a new job on Monday with 25 hours of diving ahead of me. I’ve been sitting in my house with all my stuff packed with nothing to do since Friday morning, just waiting. Two o’clock rolls by with no phone call, as promised. By three o’clock and still no phone call, I needed to have a plan and couldn’t stand the indecision. I called Greenway to cancel. I was immediately transferred to David the supervisor and told him I wanted to cancel. He asked me why. I told him it was the poor customer service and lying. He told me there would be a $450 cancellation fee (That was on top of the $200 security deposit they had already taken). I told David that I do not authorize Greenway Van Lines to charge my credit card. He said that he will send me a bill and if I don’t pay, then they will send me to collections. I told him that if he did that, then I will report his company to the Better Business Bureau.
On Monday 2/23, Greenway Van Lines just took the lazy route and ran an unauthorized charge of $450 to my credit card.
Now fast forward a little bit. I disputed the charge with my bank and initially won the appeal. This was a couple of months ago. However, just last week I learned that Greenway Van Lines had been vigorously appealing my bank’s decision. They won the case on the basis that I signed a document stating that if I cancelled on move day that I may be charged a cancellation fee. As far as I’m concerned, move day was Friday and it had been on Friday since the day after I place the order, which Greenway verbally agreed to. I don’t have that in writing, but I had their word. Don’t words count for anything?? No where on that document does it state how much the cancellation fee will be. I would just like everyone to know that Greenway's cancellation fee is $450. Why would Greenway go to such lengths to get paid when they provided poor customer service and didn't actually provide a service? Do yourself a favor and stay away from this sorry company.
