Grote Automotive Reviews

Sold me a car in "great" condition with a blown head gasket
About 3 months ago I bought a 2005 Nissan Sentra from Grote Automotive. They told me that the car was in great condition. I took it to a mechanic and had it looked over, getting the go ahead to buy it. So I bought the car. The day I picked it up I started to have problems with it. The antifreeze reservoir was almost empty, there was antifreeze all over under the hood, and the car wouldn't start on the first try when warm. I immediately took the car back to the dealership. I told them about the issues I was having. They said that the antifreeze had probably been overfilled. They put more in it, ignored the starting issue, and sent me on my way. I drove the car home, went to go to work that night, and had the same exact issues again. I again took the car back to the dealership the next day. They took it to their mechanic, who then flushed the antifreeze. That took care of the first problem, but did nothing for the starting issue. So, I then contacted the dealership again, and they told me to take it to their mechanic. So, I did. The mechanic then said that the starting issues were due to a bad throttle body. So, they replaced it and the dealership paid for it. I immediately started having starting issues with the car the day I got it back, and at this point the check engine soon light was on. So, I called the dealership again, and told them that I was still having the same problem. They again told me to take the car to their mechanic. So, I did. This time they told me that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. I called the dealership to tell them this, and this time they told me they had spent enough money to try to fix the car, and wouldn't cover anything else. When I asked about the 30 day, 1000 mile warranty that the car came with, I was told that it only covered the engine. The fuel pump wouldn't be covered. So, at this point I am so fed up with both places that I decided to take the car to a mechanic that I trusted. After thoroughly looking the car over, they told me that the head gasket was blown. I immediately called the dealership to tell them what was going on. Since the head gasket is part of the engine, I figured that it should be covered under the warranty. The sales manager told me that he would have to call the owner and get back to me. Well, of course I never heard back from him. In the mean time I continued to drive the car, since it is my only mode of transportation. I tried to contact a lawyer about the situation, and was told that no legal action could be taken until the dealership attempted to fix it 3 times. Unfortunately, I couldn't get them to try to fix it for the 3rd time. So, a few days ago the car completely quit on me and would not start. Now, I am stuck having to replace the head gasket and cylinder on my own. I feel that this is completely unfair considering it is an issue I've had since the day I bought it and should have been covered by the warranty. Moral of my story.. Don't buy a car from Grote Automotive!
