I recently purchased a 10 year old used automobile from this dealer Auto Loan Guaranteed in Bridgeview, Il. I was told that I was preapproved before I came into the dealer and that 1, 000 dollars down would guarantee my approval regardless of credit. I went in and picked out a vehicle and the owner said I was approved and all I needed was a current checkstub. I left the dealer same day with a car the manager told me she couldnt give me the contract that day and to pick it up the next business day. I couldnt reach the dealer for the next three weeks about the matter and I got a call a month after purchasing the car from the dealer saying that my financing fell thru and that they would be repossessing my vehicle. upon knowledge of that I contacted the bank and they had no knowledge of the matter. I was advised to call the dealer when I finally talked back to them they told me they would recontract me and they had made mistakes on my deal and not to pay my note for another 30days. The manager said all I had to do was come in a sign the new contract. Iwent in and the dealer cornered me in an office with two burly men and three women and demanded my car keys and threatened to call the police. I told them I didnt drive the car there they said they were taking the car back and refused to give me my down payment of 1000 dollars back to me. Someone please help me I dont know what steps to take but I do know this kind of business practice is unfair and illegal.
