Fitness One=stress&rip-off
I joined Fitness One's downtown, Toronto location. After couple of months they close down the location. Therefore, I decided to call the complaint number and ask them to cancel my membership. I had to call so many times and leave several messages before I got hold of a staff on the phone. The staff told me she will give me free memebership for 6 months. However, since I couldn't able to continously access the gym due to the distance again I wanted to cancel my membership. Ever since I been calling and leaving messages. They are not even contacting me. Now I even move to another country and making international calls. However, I couldn't able to get hold of them. Still leaving messages for them and mentioned I no longer live in the country. They are continously getting money from pre-authorized payment. Mostly, taking twice a month and then sometimes refunding it back. It is driving me crazy. They owe me several hundrad dollars. What can I do? Please give me some advice. I am unemployed at the moment so it is hard to diggest.

cancellation for gym contract
I am writing on behalf of my daughtr Janine De Villiers ID: 8701050155089 who has a two year contract with Virginactive, but due to the major knee operation she had, her doctor wrote a letter that she will nerver be able to use the gym again. She did forward the letter to the call centre and the reply was, she must pay R1850.00 by the end of September to cancel her contract. This was an unforeseen circumstance and this is tthe responce she got from Virginactive. I am very dissappointed that they could not cancel the contract, but sill need money from a person with a problem with this nature.

Sneaky Contract agreement
I've been a member of Gold's Gym in Bloomington, IL for 3 years. Recently they sent me a letter telling me that they are going to charge my credit card for a new "annual new equipment fee." Knowing that I did not sign a membership agreement to pay that fee I joined another gym and called Gold's to cancel my membership. I was transferred to someone else and had to leave a message but I was clear in the message that I do not want them to ever charge my credit card again.
The next day I received a voice message from Gold's that I needed to go back to the gym to fill out a membership cancellation agreement and that they will charge my card again for one last time. I called again and made it clear that they are not authorized any longer to charge to my card but that if they feel that I still owe them money then they will have to deal with that some other way. They informed me that they had just charged my card that day (One day after I told them not to, two days before I was due to pay for the next month's membership.)
As for the annual new equipment fee, I was told by a Gold's Gym representative that in my agreement it says, "this agreement does not include the annual new equipment fee" which I suppose to them means that they can add an annual fee at anytime and for any price that is up to them. It doesn't make sense to me but somehow it made more sense coming out of their mouths.
Kathy, one of the three owners, had the audacity to blame the other members for the extra fee, claiming that it was them who wanted this, not the owners.
