I went to H & R Block last night 3/26/09 to have my taxes done. There was a mistake on the tax return that could have easily caused me to be audited. The tax preparer, William Conklin couldn't find the page the mistake was on even when I kept saying page 2. I was charged over $300.00 for this service and I only made $15, 000 in 2008. The tax fees were not stated up front. Mr. Conklin said that the company never tells people the cost up front unless they ask. I told him it was obscene to pay this much money when the work was so poorly done. I told him I did not want to go with his service within 24 hours and he said it was to late and the tax return had already been filed. I asked for a complaint/costumer service number and he gave me a wrong number. I'm sure there are some state laws that could help me and others against such a fraudulent business practices. Don't go to H & R Block!

i have been using h and r block for years.
i went there the other day to get my taxes done. the lady that was preparing my taxes told me that she had just taken the class and barely passed it. so, here she is working at h and r block preparing peoples taxes.
well, when she finished ours i was only getting back $416 on my federal. i knew that couldn't be right.
i took my w2s and left.
i went to an accountant and got back 1800 dollars.
i just wonder how many more hard working people this lady has cheated out of money...
i can't remember her name but i do remember she told me she works at a restaurant in damascus..
it isn't fair.. we trust places like this to do their job and do it right...

I am so very disappointed with H & R this tax year as well as last year. The representatives are horrible. They smile in your face and as soon as you challenge them on their mistakes, you are suddenly the enemy. They have been giving me the runaround regarding the status of my taxes and I am at a lost as to what to do next. They have cause me a huge amount of stress and I will NEVER use their overpriced services again.

My complaint is legitimate and I am too frustrated to share the details of their mistake because it is far from professional and completely irresponsible.

My boyfriend and I have been going to the particular H and R Block for about 3 years. On this particular time, my boyfriend had recieved his W-2's before me and had got his taxes done before me also. When I finally recieved all mine I had made an apointment that day at the same place, but with a different lady. She was very unproffesional the whole time we were there. As she was preparing my taxes I had a odd feeling that she really didn't know what she was doing (I had a w-2 for school that was a little tricky). So, I asked her if she could go back and look at my last year return. The way she did this surprised both me and my boyfriend. First, she pulled up this screen with her login and password (that I could have very easily memorized because she typed it in so many times), then EVERYONES social security number that filed thier taxes at this facility the prior year popped up. My boyfriend immediatly pointed out his social security number. THEN, she left the room to order food and get coffee!!! IN THE MIDDLE OF MY RETURN!! Not only that she was gone for so long that I could have EASILY looked up and stolen hundreds of peoples social and identity. We will deffinatly NEVER go to H & R Block agian.

I had my taxes done by H&R Block. I relieved my refund but the IRS took a lot of money from the taxes. I now just received a letter from the IRS saying I owe them another $1500 and now I will probably end up with nothing.
