Are you an HR BLOCK customer that got the EMERALD debit card this year? Well, guess what, so did MANY MANY others! Now your patiently waiting for your tax rebate to be direct deposited since your refund was, right? WRONG! Unless you paid your fees UP FRONT, you will get a paper check, and MOST people I know did NOT pay their fees up front because the fees were so outrageous! Would you have filed with them had you known this was going to happen? I know I sure wouldn’t have! I KNOW for a fact this will hurt their business next year. I have thousands of complaints on other boards about this, so I really expect HR BLOCK to make some serious offers at Christmas this year to entice customers, because you KNOW that THEY know they are screwed for next tax season. MOST people that used them this year will HOPEFULLY do their taxes themselves through the IRS. The main reason I am upset isn’t because I will be getting a paper check at the END of JUNE (ARGG!!!), but the fact that if I DIDNT choose the emerald card when I went to HR Block this year, I would have to pay an EXTRA Twenty dollars for a PAPER check! I know twenty bucks isn’t a lot, but it was the PRINCIPAL of the thing! I didn’t want to pay an extra twenty dollars for a piece of paper, so instead I opted for a little green plastic card that had SOO many great benefits (NOT!!) that HOW could I go wrong by getting it? Now gas is 3.50 a gallon, and milk, bread, and eggs have gone sky high and I REALLY need the free money (yeah right!!) The government has promised me. I would doing great this week because it WOULD have came to me by direct deposit, IF I hadn’t had HR block take their fee from my refund. Because of this, I am now penalized and have to wait till the end of JUNE along with many other Americans! Can I wait?? SURE I can! But the point is, we were CONNED into this card, and NOW when we all so desperately could use the money, we have to wait even longer, after being told over and over through HR BLOCK customer service that yes, as long as our refund came direct deposit, then our tax rebate would too! What a lie!

I just sincerely hope that everyone that got shammed into this card and had this problem this year will REMEMBER next January and try to do them ourselves! If you are on the HR BLOCK EMERALD CARD HATER bandwagon, please post!! Thanks for the RANT.

I have always gone to HR Block, in fact I worked at the location in Travellers Rest, SC. I was so disappointed when they told me I owed $450.00 fee on having my taxes done. I freaked out, for 45 minutes worth of work I was charge that much!!! The is horrible. She said it was because of the amt of forms that she used. Please, that is absolute robbery!!! I did the work, they just filled in the information. I will not go back next year, I will try to find someone cheaper!! It was not the fault of the tax preparer, I blame totally on HR Block and their ridiculous fees!!

I Have my own accountant and have used them for years. Had them do my own taxes but needed to file my girlfriends. She moved to the USA from Canada half way through the year and my accountant said no problem but it will have to be after the 15th when things open up. So I called H&R. Well when I got there and they saw there was another country involved they freaked. They called one person locally and asked what they should do. That person said that I would have to go to some main office 30 miles away. Even they made it sound to be big thing but couldn't fit me in. The office I went to was drab. No magazines, only two people working there that also had to answer calls and they could only do the very basics. This was the final days before the 15th and they only had 2 people and no one answering phones or greeting anyone. Cheap Bs. I'll never go to H&R again. Just imagine if they did do the taxes. They would screw up the write offs and who knows what. Just find a real accountant that people recommend and have been using for years.

I have been scammed by H&R Block and want them exposed. This has been going on for over two weeks now. Not only would I like my refund, but I want someone to hear me because I’m not keeping quiet about this. I am going to post this everywhere I can and if even ONE person responds it will have been worth it.

I would have to guess that my appearance (pseudo punk/goth) led them to believe I would not complain (or maybe realize) what they had done. But I actually am a shop owner (Drytear) and have owned a number of businesses. I simply will not tolerate this form of behavior/service. I have contacted numerous news medias as well as made a complaint to the better business bureau. I've made frequent phone calls to their district office AND main customer service numbers, only to leave message after message for someone to call me back (which they have not).

I was basically scammed by your establishment. I went to H&R because I needed the money right away. I already had my taxes prepared by a CPA and just wanted to have the refund disbursed to me immediately (as I had heard about on TV/radio). I explained to the accountant (who was there dressed in what seemed like pajamas and ignored me twice for a friend and then for a phone call when I had waited patiently for almost 30 minutes for her) that her work was easy, she just needed to quickly file my prepared taxes so I could receive the refund immediately.

Now (to my understanding), I have been denied something called a 3-min loan and a bank loan and I have to wait 8-14 days for a check that will be mailed to HER! This is unacceptable. I have basically just paid to have my taxes disbursed LATER than if I would have e-filed through my CPA for free. (AND TO SOMEONE OTHER THAN MYSELF! Whatever happened to direct deposit?) AND WHY AM I PAYING YOU HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS? What exactly did you do for me? I was scammed and I'm calling the better business bureau and I am calling EVERY TV/radio/newspaper agency in my area to complain about your disgusting service.

PS: I also called your district office over 20 times... I get an answering machine at each attempt. Very nice. I feel much better now. :-/ I also called your main customer service line and was on hold for 35 minutes, before I finally just hung up the phone (as my cell phone minutes are dwindling along with my patience for your business).

I know I am angry right now... but this couldn't have happened at a worse time for me.

On tues. jan 29th had my tax prepare in lynn mas 1040 ez form.To be told as my person was done, I should pay $149.20. I politely said, last year I paid for the same service only $89.00. She quickly pointed out, she used the wrong form, and she would go down to $120.00. I refused, told her i will never come back. And low behold we found another mistake, and my bill came to $91.00. What is wrong with does people, and i am not sure if she correctly did my taxe's either. Will never go back, consumer be aware.
