I have one of Hampton Bay's top dollar fans and I live in one of the up scale neighborhoods... My problem... I understand the fan works on a frequency and sometimes when I turn one fan on in the bedroom the one in the living room comes on or off depending on the setting of that fan, which I deal with by making sure the fan is turned off at the switch plate on the wall.
The new complaint... My fan runs at night and now the light comes on in the middle of the night! Last night it was 4:14 a.m.! I assume the neighbor must have gotten hot and turned his fan on high because our fan switched to high speed and the light came on. I knew it was about to when I heard the clicking as if someone was changing the speed so I switched the speed and turned the light off hoping if the neighbor's fan did what our did when they pushed the buttons they would think their fan was broken but then I realized they will go buy another one and it too may be on the same frequency.
How do you change the frequency or fix the problem?
