Handyman Club of America Reviews

Billing for unordered subscriptions
I am being billed for 24 months of unordered subscriptions when I call they hang up when I tell them these are unauthorized charges.

I called using one of your other complaintants who listed their number in her complaint. (Good for her...I couldn't find a phone number anywhere on their bill)

not sending products to try
My husband joined the lifetime Handyman club. He hasn't received any products to try out and this has been 2 years ago. We had to keep after them just to send magazines and that was part of the membership. The only thing that has been good is the magazines. Noting is done in a timely manner

Return book
I was sent a booklet to "evaluate I guess" and I did not order it but was billed. I was sent a return merchandise label but I do not know which book to return. It is not mentionmed in the letter I received.
I called the toll free number and was put on hold for over 7 minutes with no answer.
They should tell me in their letter which book I am to return.

billing after cancellation
I keep receiving collection notices from rmcb stating that I owe
$335.00 to handyman club of America for membership from 2007. I canceled the membership during the so-called trial period and have NOT received anything from handyman club since the cancellation. This is not a valid debt and I do not feel I am responsible to pay for something that I canceled during the trial period.

Money-Back Guarantee
After receiving and trying a subscription to Handyman Club of America I decided to use my "Monsy-Back Guarantee" option offered by the Magazine. After two months of waiting for my refund. I called Handyman again and they stated that it will take another six to eight weeks for them to look into the matter. I believe this to be a ripp off. I will repost after six to eight weeks.

Un-requested material
Here we are almost 2 months into the new year, and un-announced, un-wanted, un-requested a "FREE GIFT" arrives with a $16.98 bill attached. What is it? The 2010 Route 66 Calendar. What does a scenic calendar, of Route 66, with 1/6th of the year over, have to do with home/professional projects? I bought the membership, I bought the books (more out hassle in sending them back than any useful value), and I even bought the life membership with the mistaken hope of product trials.

I accept the responsibility in paying the dues, and following this piper down the road. At the end of the road is a garbage pit filled with useless books, expensive calendars, empty promises. The only redeeming quality this club offers at all, is a marginally acceptable magazine. That ended today. At least I won't have anything else coming my way ever again.

As they said in the movie A Bugs Life, "Don't go into the light"...zzzzzzzzpt

trying to collect for membership i don't want
a couple of yrs. ago joined on a tempoary basis, the "club" said i could drop membership at any time. After awhile the "club" wanted me to do a life membership @ a cost of over $300.00. I returned the form with a polite "NO THANK YOU". Never heard more until now 1/26/2010. The "club" has turned that bill over to a collection agency.
WHAT DO I DO? I'm not going to pay for something I don't want and on top of that, I never recieved any items to "test" ie: tools etc.

billing
My husband joined the club for a lifetime membership in May of 2008. But I lost my job and his wasn't working too well either. So we called to let them know our situation. They said we weren't the first to have to let our membership go. Now we are being put into collections for the 335.00 membership fees. We cancelled in 2009. I don't feel I should pay it because we cancelled after paying on some of it.

Club Membership unrecognized
I am a lifetime member and my number is 30045403 4 # DY. I continue to get invitations to join the Lifetime membership and again offered all the wonderful tool I was promised the first time. I am a member and have not seen any tools to try and keep as they advertise. Why would I need a second life time membership I haven't died. My current magazine address label reads:
#BXNCJSD*************CAR-RT Lot**R-013
# Club MBR 30045403 4 # DY
William Carlson 153
10527 Pinto Drive 0303
Hudso, FL 34669-2568 52820-3

Now that is what the label looks like. Where are all the test tools and benefits I am suppose to get? Please quit inviting me to get a life membership I already have a useless one.
