Failure to provide services and products as promised
I joined the Handyman Club of America. I was assured that I would receive a 3 year membership, $40 in gas rebates; a first product test; a gift of 7 in 1 tool set; a 4 in 1 tape measure. I paid them by check when I joined. I then received a bill from them for my membership. To date I have not received any of the products or services they promised and I am wondering if this a scam operation.

Rip off
I received a letter today stating that I am going to be turned over to a collection agenct for nonpayment. The only thing that I have received from this company are the dreaded invoices. You would think that after they did not receive payment that meant that I was not interested. The offer clearly stated once we receive payment we will send out the so called free items.
This was a real shock to receive a collection letter for items that I have never received. I am not sending a dime on it. I w0uld not even waste a postage stamp as mad as I was when I opened this letter.

Threats for non payment..
I never subscribed to this club or any of its magazines or gifts... and don't intend to now or in the future... also do not intend to make payment on something I have not subscribed to..
I have received a letter from Handyman Club of America P.O. Box 3526 Minnet5onka, Mn. 55343-3526 .. stating I am delinquent in my dues for this club... as I said before I have not subscribed to this club or any of its literature now or in the future...
I have tried to call there office on 800 243 7679 but there office hours are not on the weekend.. I will attempt another call on Monday may 5 to resolved this misunderstanding...

Unauthorized membership!
I received a membership offer from Handyman Club of America. I read the Junk mail and was not interested. I received a letter claiming my account status was delinquent and if I did not pay, they would send my Membership dues of $25.00 to Collections. These guys are Scam artist. I never joined. There should laws against this type of Marketing.

No free gifts or gas rebates!
I never received the $40 in gas rebates, the 7-in-1 multi tool/flashlight, 4-in-1 tape measure, and the bonus $10 savings certificate. And I paid the dues back in February 2008. The check was deposited. I just would like to know if I will ever received theses gifts.

Got nothing for money I paid.
I paid the dues for my husband to join the Handyman Club of America which I believe at the time was $12.00. Well upon recieving nothing from them suddenly we were getting this other letter saying "cash this $12.00 check and you will be in the lifetime club". Well who in their right mind is going to do that when the lifetime club is $325.00. Are they crazy or not really a ligit company. At this point I am thinking both. First they send me nothing for my $12.00 and then they think I am gonna pay them a hell of a lot more money for nothing also. I think you guys should do something about these people who are scamming people out of money. $12.00 might seem like not a lot of money to some people but to me I could buy diapers or something for my daughter with that money.

Over zealous billing!
My Paid subscription is good until 4/09/08. Yet I have received no less than four prior invoices that started coming in as early as December "07" indicating that a payment was due. Today 3/14/08 I received a bill stating that my payment is now overdue. If I make my payment now I can avoid suspension. They claim you need to pay early so that you can continue service without disruption. (Here is what really happens:)
I ran into the same billing blitz last year when my paid subscription was good thru 4/21/07. I paid a little early on 4/09/07 and lost subscription time by doing so. What little enjoyment I get from the magazine is lost with the battle of the aggressive invoicing. I will be calling the 800 number on Monday.

Unauthorized billing!
I have been getting bills for a subscription that I didn't want. The last one was very threatening that they were going to send my account to a collection agency. These bills do not do not have any customer service contact information but only a PO Box in which to send the money.
Via searching through the internet, finding their marketing partners, I have found a phone number to get "my subscription" canceled. I called and told them that I wanted it canceled. Based on that, they told me that the bills would stop coming.
This is the course of action I would recommend to the rest of you complaining about Handymanclub.

Keep receiving bills from them threatening to send me to collections, bill has been paid!
I keep receiving bills from this club which I have never joined. They are now threatening to send me to collections. There is no phone number nor website to contact them. I tried looking them up on the internet and there is also not a site for them.

Threatening letter!
Following a trial subscription to their magazine, they have now sent me a threatening letter indicating that if I did not pay the subscription bill, they would turn it over to a retained "nationwide licensed collection agency. Their magazine leaves much to be desired in the area of expertise of the handyman. At my age, I would feel very uncomfortable following their advice. It is very elementary and skims over subjects in an unprofessional manner. I certainly would not recommend this magazine to anyone that has anything more than a rudimentary knowledge of home and shop maintenance issues.
