No service!
My daughter purchased a Microfober living room set. She loved it, so we also purchased 2 couches and a reclining chair. 1 year after my daughter's purchase her reclining couch fell apart. Harlem's response was "Sorry, it's out of warranty". AND you guessed it, 1 year and 2 weeks from when we signed the papers in the show room, our reclining couch broke. I called and same thing "Sorry, it's out of Warranty, and because you moved all warranty's were already voided" WHAT??? The furniture looks good and sits well, but falls apart.
They don't back up their products.

Harassment!
I tried to close my accounts about 20 times, the balance is paid on full and the answer is always the same "ok we have your account close today " and each time when i call them again the accounts are still open. I really don't know what to do anymore. They even send me the bill with the balance 0.00.

Terrible quality products!
I purchased 2 dressers 2 years ago from Harlem Furniture. the drawers are completely damaged & not usable. I called Harlem Furniture for assistance & was told to call Stay & Safe who holds the warranty, they did not want to assist and claim the terms of the contract are expired. I called Harlem Furniture back again, spoke to the store manager and customer service, neither department wanted to assist. I now have 2 pieces of furniture that I cannot use. All I'm looking for is someone to come out and make a repair, I'm not asking for new furniture, I would just like to use my dressers again. This furniture is only 2 years old & has in no way been abused or overused. I don't understand why no one is willing to help a customer. Like I said, I'm not asking for much. I would never return to Harlem Furniture to buy anything and I certainly wouldn't recommend Harlem Furniture to anyone.

Late Xmas delivery
On dec. 3 2007 i ordered a loft bed for my child for xmas from harlem furniture. I was given a delivery date in january or a choice of several other days before then.i choose dec 22 i then got a phone call on dec. 21 before i could answer the phone some one hung up but they did leave a message that they were calling to schedule a delivery date for dec. 22 and to call back to confirm it. When i did call right back to confirm i was told the item was not in stock and i could not have the item until dec. 28 when i asked to speak to a manager she told me she would have one call back but he would tell me the same thing i hung up and called back and spoke to another rep she explained to me all the parts were not in stock it does not matter if all the pieces were why was i called to confirm a date and would you tell me my furniture would be delivered and it was not even in stock you let me choose a date i did ask for something that may have not be available you gave me a choose and thanks to harlem furniture my child will be able to enjoy his xmas gift on the 28th of dec. Hey all of you ceos and executives of harlem furniture how was your childs xmas. Hope you have a happy new year also.

Inadequate resolution
I bought a leather sectional from their Diamond collection in October and since then have had nothing but problems with it. The sectional does not fit in with the rest of the couch... it is uneven and leaves an unsightly gap. They sent over a furniture technician who agreed that the couch was not up to par but Harlem said it met the manufacturer regulations and therfore could not be replaced...although, the woman I spoke to admitted there seemed to be something off. I recommend spending a little extra money at a better store for better quality. Their motto, "great looks for less", has a lot to do with the fact that there is always a way to pay for an item that is similar in appearance but lower in quality.

unusable product and worst customer service
NEVER BUY FROM HARLEM FURNITURE: Bought new sectional in July 2007. The recliner has broken twice already. The third time they end the part with no technician, then the technician came with out tools. As of this writing it is not fixed.
The worst problem is the cushions from the sleeper side of the sectional comes out after 2 minutes of sitting on it. Harlem will not replace or fix it.
One of the wrost customer service. It is like stealing.
Never buy from Harlem furniture.

Poor customer service!
On 8/4/07 I bought 4 leather reclining chairs, 2 otterman's and 2 end tables. We agreed on the purchase with the stipulation of a Saturday "AM", 8/11/07, delivery. On 8/10/07 I was called and told we were the last delivery of the day and it would be between 4pm and 6pm. I called the store and was told a comment was on the sales contract and they would call the warehouse, cure the problem and call me back. I had to call store back "6" times as they would never call me back with an answer. Finally I was told the problem could not be fixed and I would have to reschedule. I then wanted to cancel the sale and was given the run around. 8 hours later the same was canceled. The experience with the manager of the store appeared that they made the sale and my time was not important to them. I am an Operation's Manager for the largest delivery company in the world and handle several hundred truck dispatches a day. I always can accommodate a special request.
Very poor service!

Rotten furniture & horrible service
I bought an entertainment center to go inside of my new apartment. The furniture was delivered and everything seemed fine. Approximately 3 weeks later, I was scheduled to have a cable installed, which required the entertainment center to be moved at least 3 inches from the wall. When I moved it, there was a huge stain in my new, white carpet! The stain was from the wood finish at the bottom of the furniture, and the entertainment center was wet underneath when I tilted it over to look at. The bottom was black and moldy and had molded areas in my carpet. They sent a repair person to come look at it, and although they KNOW that they are responsible they are ducking and dodging their responsibility. At first, I was told that although they are at fault, they no longer handle the situation because more than 3 days had passed since it was delivered. I was persistent, and I was told that they would replace it and give me a $100 carpet cleaning. The carpet cleaning was no good to me because my carpet was ruined, not only was the wood stain not going to come out, but the mold most definitely wasn't going to come out, which was even told to me by the repair person they had sent to my home. I was told to either take it or leave it, I told them I would think about it to weigh my options and now the "decision makers" refuse to answer my calls and refuse to call me back.

Damaged, poor quality, rude customer service
My experience with Harlem Furniture has been absolutely appalling. I attempted to refuse delivery on living room furniture as soon as I realized the furniture was damaged and very poor construction. The delivery people would not allow me to refuse the delivery and said I had to call customer service. Customer service said they would not help me and I had to seek my refund and arrangement for the return by going to the store in person. The store manager was rude and sarcastic and when I asked if I was going to need my lawyer to make the return, his response was, "Go ahead, we've got lawyers too."
They wanted to charge me to pick up the furniture that I attempted to refuse in the first place! They also said they would not credit my credit card until after they picked up the furniture, but had no trouble charging me for it in advance of my receiving it! This company will not only rip you off, they will be rude doing it. Quite a contrast to the sales approach of guaranteeing satisfaction!

Lack of competence and service!
I am writing to express my complete annoyance and disbelief as to the lack of competence this business has provided me with! I purchased a living room set for 2K on Tuesday. I told them upon purchasing that I absolutely need the delivery to be on Saturday. To secure the deal, they assured me that would not be a problem! Turns out they are liars! The distribution center called me the next day and claimed there was no possible way they can deliver on Saturday. So they told me my delivery date would be Thursday between 8-12. I do not have family members near my apartment and my friends, like me, work Monday- Friday from 9-5 in the city. So my only option here was to take the morning off of work and wait for my delivery. I received 3 confirmations about my delivery date and time the night before!!!
It was approximately 10:30 on Thursday and still no furniture. I was told I would be the 3rd stop - so I was a bit concerned. I called the store - THERE WAS NO DELIVERY SCHEDULED FOR ME THAT DAY!!!
HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN AFTER 3 PEOPLE CALLED TO CONFIRM???
I spoke with a manager Dale, who told me 1st she would call the distribution manager and then call me right back - and 2nd that she would find a resolution for misunderstanding that day.
She never called me back... I continuously had to keep calling her to find the status... by 2:00 she was "STILL WORKING ON IT!" She never called to confirm the delivery would not arrive that day.
I missed an entire day of work for nothing!!! No managers were assisting or returning calls and when I called Joyce Solomon, an apparent customer service manager, at 4:00 p.m. that day - she apparently was at lunch!!!
I am so annoyed right now I cannot even put it into words!!!
Apparently now they are delivering on Saturday - I expect a major discount to be applied for all my inconvenience and for making me miss an entire day of work. I would appreciate any assistance in resolving this.
