Failure to honor extended warranty
I took my Harley in for repairs and was advised the engine was "fried". Was told that if I could provide proof of oil changes for the last 11, 500 miles, they MIGHT honor the extended warranty. ( The warranty provided that if ANYTHING went wrong it would be covered ..this was Not the case. As it stands, I have yet to get anything accomplished for the last 2 years. LET IT BE NOTED: The motor was NOT fried as can be attested to by 3 independent repair shops. It looks Harley dealer was trying to sell a new engine which is not what is needed. Now that the warranty has expired, they feel they have no other obligations. Is it a matter thet they are so large a business that they could care less as to the satisfaction of their customers? Seems that way!

2009 Road King FLHRC
i purchased a brand NEW 2009 Road King Classic FLHRC on June 26th 2009
in Beaumont, TX and it is now August the 17th, and after it's first 1, 000 mile service i had to take it back due to a loud clattering from the engine, WHY, let me ask again WHY???
should anyone have to go through this after purchasing a brand NEW F ' n bike ?
i wasn't even offered a rental, if you buy something new WHY should it be in the Shop
a month and half later. i grew up with Harleys i've been a Harley Davidson freak since i was a kid. but right now... i'm a little upset that this great AMERICAN ICON of a machine is setting in a shop.

Mechanical-Warranty Issues
2008 Street Glide, less than one year old, the pipes are burning red at the engine. Took it back to Old Glory in Laurel, MD the dealer. They had it two weeks could not figure out what was wrong, called in the area service rep, who says that it is normal. To come pick up the bike or be charged storage. Took the bike to to another dealer in Elkridge, MD the same service rep saw my bike in the shop and stopped work on it. He called and said there is nothing wrong with your bike. Told him that I was told that the fuel injectors were incorrect. He claims that the injectors are the stock 25mm, but he would not know that because they have never taken the bike apart, they just plugged it into a computer. The bike has been in the shop for a month now and Haley Davidson will not even look at the injectors, they tell me that it is OK. Other people that I know have this bike and they do not have this problem. What good is a warranty if they will not even take apart the bike to see what the problem is.

lies and warranty
I purchased a 2005 Road King Classic.(new) and at the same time I purchased the $1300.00 unlimited mileage, seven year, life of the loan, extended warranty, which I haven't used until now. Last weekend I noticed my clutch lever was getting harder to pull. It engaged and disengaged in the same place it always does. I decided to take it to Lake Erie Harley Davidson in Avon, Ohio. I explained the problem to them and told them, while they're at it, give it an oil change. A few hours later, they called my home and told me that the clutches were not slipping and they would remove and bead blast them and didn't see any other problems. I told them I wasn't concerned with the costs because the bike was still under the extended warranty. The following day I received yet another call and they informed me that the bike was ready to go. They also told me that the "warranty was voided" due to a reduced effort clutch kit that I had installed. And it was installed incorrectly, which voided the warranty. I went to CENTURY HARLEY DAVIDSON IN MEDINA, OHIO (where I purchased the bike) and asked them "what was a reduced effort clutch kit, since I didn't know what the hell it was, and asked them "why would I want one?" and "Who installed it?" We looked in the computer records and found no record of an installation of this device. They explained to me what it was. I asked them for a print out of my account of service done at their dealership. I then went to a Custom Builder and asked him how this thing works. He produced the kit for me to see and walked me thru how it operated. (this part only goes on ONE way) For one, the kit is NOT on my bike. (and was told it was installed wrong) The mechanic showed me that this device only installs ONE way, and work. There is no such thing as installing this device incorrectly. The clutch system will not work. I called LAKE ERIE HARLEY DAVIDSON and called them a damn liar. The device was NEVER put on my bike, and if it had been. It wouldve impossible to pull it off the lot since they said it was installed incorrectly. Now they aren't wanting to honor my warranty (which is UNLIMITED) because of a device that I NEVER HAD INSTALLED but they say I did. There are no records anywhere of this being installed on my bike. The total costs of everything they did are almost $600 and I AM NOT PAYING IT...Harley Davidson and I will be meeting in Court. May the best man win.. :)

Bad Service
On May 5 2009 I traded my 2001 Road King in on a new show room 2009 Street Glide.
Since I had just turned 56 and was celebrating my 43ed year of riding motorcycles. I decided to do it up right and get what I wanted. And figuring that this was going to be my last Harley before I retire I went hog wild and had the stage 4 kit put in by the dealer so that it would be under dealer warranty.
What a mistake that was. Since May 5 the bike has been in the shop every week except the first week.
That is to say that from May 5 to today June 25 I have had the bike at my home and rode it for a week.
The bike I was told has a glitch with the security system that won’t allow it to start near walls, and or metal buildings, or electrical systems.
I was never told by the sales person that this was a common problem with some of the newer bikes.
The Irony is that the owners manual also stats this.
I can not believe that Willy and the boys at Harley allowed some dumb engineer design such a piece of crap. Have they forgotten that the world is surrounded by cars, trucks, metal buildings and that over 90 % of the cars, trucks and even buildings have electrical gadgets on them.
To design this and allow to go out to the public is so wrong.
So now my bike is back in the shop again which means that this month I was able to keep it at home and ride it for a week..
The Legacy tech now tells me that Harley told him that the problem is in a electrical harness that is back ordered.
I have owned several Harleys in the last 12 years and this is the first time I have had so much trouble with a bike and or a Harley Shop.
Had the sales person told me about having to push the bike around to find a sweet spot to start it up
I would have kept my Road King.
Last week I took the day off from work to see what was going on and they actually found some communication error codes.
The Tech messed around with an electrical connector. And I was able to ride the bike home so that it would not start again.
I am starting to think Lemon Law.
What has happened to American Engineering and customer service ?

dealers
charged for work they don't do. the work they did was the worst. put in new front wheel barings wrong. "could have killed me." did the worst tune up i've ever had done. charged for a 50, 000 mile check up, and did nothing. cost me 850 dollers repairing work they did. over charged on every thing, because i was from out of town. be vary carefull if you have to deel with them. i'll push my bike home be fore i ever deel with them again. look for other shops. can't say enough about how" horse shit" this shop is for people out of town. gives harely davidson a bad name. will allways look for other shops, other than harely davidson because of this.

blue exhaust pipes
2005 Soft tail standard with EFI, stage 1 kit and screaming eagle pipes, less than 6000 miles, slight engine miss, pipes got red on a 10 minute ride. Parked bike, called HD and asked if bike could be picked up. It was still covered by the extended warranty. Bike was picked up and put on the computer. HD service said all sensors checked out normal, with no manifold gaskets leaking, however I needed to install a performance module in order to reset the injectors. When I purchased the motorcycle, I was not told that this needed to be done and the only requirement was a tech download. explain to me why this is not covered under the extended warranty or why there was no re-call on the EFI bikes if this module needs to be installed and wasn't.

Not willing to work with owners
Is there anyone else in the US that is having to deal with Harley Davidson after they repo a bike?
I had my bike repo'ed (after trying to work with them to satisfy the loan and keep it current)
I had lost my job and couldnt make the whole payment. they wouldnt work with me at all
Harley auctioned the bike- WITHOUT A RESERVE
and obtained less than what was owed on the loan (is this even legal)
now i am getting nasty mail and phone calls (polly would be the person calling me)
Doesnt Harley have any clue that the economy is not the greatest and that they have to
work with familes that are willing to work with them. Does anyone out there have any
experience dealing with them on this matter?

factory parts
I have been waiting on factory parts for 14 weeks and H-D cant seem to make any fender struts for an 04 FXSTB. H-D sucks at customer service. This is not precision stuff here, this is a piece of stamped metal paited balck. H-D is a soup sandwich! I will unload this bike and buy metric, at least I can get parts within a week. H-D, get out of the business.
