manufacture defect
On april, 2 2011 my 07 ultra would not start, checked my battery posts were melted. I put a new battery on it and restarted the bike, it ran for 5 seconds and then died with a loud clunk. I took it to Texoma Harley and they found a piece of metal lodged in my primary chain, wich cause both trans. and motor shafts to bend inward. I called Harley-davidson home office and they are supplying all parts needed for repair, but I have to pay 1300.00 for labor. I called Texoma Harley May 6 asking if they would give me a loaner bike, until mine was fixed and they refused. Its may 14 now and I still don't have my bike. I dont think I should be responsible for any labor costs, since this was a defect and if I had been riding this bike down the road when happened, I would have been killed!

finance
I a pplied for loan to purchase '04 night train and was denied. I have NO debts at all, I owe nothing to nobody, I offered 2, 000$ down even but still denied, I believe I was turned down because of my age (61). I make about 38 to 40K a year. Is this a common practice?

Very uncomfortable ride
I too purchased a 2008 Heritage and found the side stand way too forward and I'm 6'2'' and still cannot reach the side stand, the least Harley could do is offer an extension for the side stand, I called and they told me they do not offer one at this time, and could not or would not tell me when they would have one available...as far as the heat goes, I thought my right leg was on fire, the heat is so intense, it makes for a very uncomfortable ride.
Especially if you’re on a long ride 200 miles plus, you would think Harley would do better when designing these new bikes, don't they check things out before they put them on the market?
What are the engineers doing, I think I will look at the other American made Motorcycle (Victory) next time around.

Harassment
Each month HD Financial calls me the day after my payment is due. The payment was due Sunday, I said what about a few days grace. I said I would pay Friday. Then they call everyday anyway. They even keep calling after I make the payment because it takes them 3 days to post the payment when I pay online. This is harassment. It's not like I am paying late. This month I paid 3 days before it was due and they called again...said it wasn't posted yet but they could see the payment was made. Finance through someone else. This is ridiculous.

Bad defect
I have a 2007 Harley Davidson Heritage Softtail Classic. You are sitting over the oil tank it gets extremely hot in fact quite painful. It is like someone is putting a Bic lighter to your thigh. Asked at the Dealership if there is a deflector and there is not. I love the bike, but it should be fun not painful.
When you are going fast you can get enough wind flow, but sometimes you are driving in traffic or in town and can not go fast enough to get a good wind flow. Harley Davidson needs to fix this flaw as this is the only problem I am having with this bike and I really want to keep the bike, but I do not want to have blisters on my thigh every time I ride.

Too hot
I have a 2008 HD Ultra Glide. I received first degree burns on my thighs while sitting in traffic. Has any one else had problems with engine getting that hot to cause burns?
This new engine runs hot even when doing 60mph, but have not had any mechanical problems.
I think when a person purchases a vehicle it should be safe to drive without having to worry about getting burnt.
Are there any solutions to this problem?
Does anyone know of any class action law suites taking place because this type of injury or if HD is going to initiate a recall to prevent burns.

Bad quality product!
I have a 2005 buckshot screaming eagle colbalt blue fatboy. I have had problems over and over with the paint job and clear coat. I have had to replace all the skins several times due the rust under clearcoat where the bare metal is on the skins and cleat coat chipping. The day i bought my bike harley had to replace the tank due to rust. I am looking for anyone who has had similar problems. I am considering a 'class action suit'.

Harley-Davidson's lack of info to buyers
My compliant is that I have a 05 FAT BOY and it uses oil. I called Harley-Davidson customer service and they advised me that it was normal and within specs that new Harley's use one quart of oil every 1500 miles. I feel Harley-Davidson should tell the customer that their new bike more than likely will be using oil. I sure would not buy a new vehicle if I know it will be using oil!!! Nothing is stated in owners manual about oil consumption and they recommend oil change at every 5,000 miles, my question to Harley-Davidson is why change the oil when I have to keep adding new oil every 1500 miles? If the general public was made aware of this issue, not many new Harley's would be sold.
