My wife and I have been with Harleysville National Bank for approximately fifteen years. I have held car loans, home loans, personal loans and checking accounts with them during this time frame.
I recently canceled my home owners insurance policy and was issued a refund check. The refund check had my name and my wifes MAIDEN name on the check. I attempted to deposit the check and was told by HNB that they could not honor the check because the name is not on the account. After I attempted to explain the situation, they still would not honor the check.
I now have to reopen an insurance policy
with my old home owners company with my wifes married name and then cancel that policy in order for them to re-issue a refund check. I then have to put my name on my wifes checking account, so that the check can be deposited. All this is going to take approximately three to four weeks. Meanwhile, my escrow account is now in the negative because I have paid two different insurance companies this year.
I understand the rules, but this is a little rediculous. To make me jump through so many hoops, over such a small issue is just crazy to me. What does fifteen years of loyalty to the small town bank get you? AGGRAVATION!
I am going to cancel all accounts with these people as soon as I possibly can. They will never make another dime of interest money from me again.
