I purchased a vehicle from Harpswell Auto using ebay. In the ebay report it states clearly that the vehicle has working air conditioning. I called Harpswell Auto before bidding on the automobile and asked them specifically if the vehicle had air conditioning and if it worked. The employee, Jesse, stated that the air conditioner was great and blew 'ice cold air'. Two people were present and the phone was on speaker when he stated this.
I bought the vehicle and my family and I bought tickets and flew to Maine to pick it up and drive it home to Utah. Upon arrival, we found the vehicle not only did not have working air conditioning, but the air conditioning components had been removed.
At that point, Mr. P. Elliot Decker, Service Manager, said he could repair everything, but due to time limitations he would have me get the vehicled repaired in Utah instead and would reimburse up to $500 of the repair bill. He typed a statement saying this and we both signed it.
Harpswell Auto will not honor this commitment and has refused to reimburse anything to me. Ebay refuses to help me because it has been over 60 days since the transaction. Thirty of those days passed before we were able to fly to Maine, and Harpswell Auto drug this out past the other 30 days by continually ignoring my requests and not returning my phone calls, and promising to look into it, but never doing so.
Is there anything I can do at this point without flying to Maine?
Thank you,
Stacie Bevan
