Long Long Long story short:
I needed an engine in my Jeep. We found AEI via the internet. They towed the jeep from my driveway with an estimate to rebuild of $1, 876.00, taking my personal check of $800.00 as a deposit. The time frame for completion was 10-14 business days. We were given the runaround for weeks and finally got the ok to pick up the vehicle 6 weeks later. Of course the final bill was way over estimate ($2849.23)They refused to take a personal check for final payment. The vehicle ran horribly, and the faceplate to my radio was missing! We took it to another service facility where I was told that an improperly rebuilt (possibly not even rebuilt) engine, had been improperly installed with substandard parts. We had it serviced there costing $1200.00. Numerous phone calls and letters to AEI were unanswered. The jeep ran, but not as well as expected. 3 months later it began losing power, idling high, stalling. I took it to another mechanic who told me the engine was shot, needed to be replaced. Which I did, costing me $4, 776.68. It's been running fine ever since. This fraudulent corporation, owned by John Hartnack, is based out of Texas but nationwide under different names: Hartnack Motor Replacement, American Engine Installations, Engine Solutions and probably others. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR VEHICLE!!!
