Bad Customer Service
I purchased a GPS Navigator that I was told was out of stock but will be ordered from another store and will arrive in 2 weeks. I was told I would be notified when it arrived and could go and pick it up from the store.
2 weeks came and went without a phone call so I called them. The salesman that sold me thr unit said he was sure it had come in but would locate it and call me back before I drove all the way there to pick it up. 3 hours later I recived the phone call telling me that he had indeed found it and I could go and get it.
I drove all the way there only to find that he was serving someone else so he made me wait 15 mins while he finished serving them and went to get my unit. Before I left he informed me that the security sticker was peeled off because he wanted to make sure everything was in the box.
When I got home I unpacked the GPS Unit only to find a reciept for a refund for that unit in the bottom of the box. It was obvious that this unit was second-hand and I had paid full price. the reciept was also from the store I had orginally bought it from so I waited 2 weeks to get a second hand unit that was already at the store.
I called the salesman and was able to take it back but when I drove over there instead of being apologetic he made me wait 30 mins before he served me and then he told me that this unit was discontinued and I had to pay $115.00 to get the next model up.
Then I discover that there is no complaints deparment so there is no way he can be held accountable for stuffing me around, wasting my time and making me pay more money than I wanted to. Harvey Norman has lost my custom forever because of their crap customer service.

Defective workmanship, Damage to Property, Very Bad Customer Service
Purchased carpet from Harvey Norman Liverpool. Upon first installation, labourers damaged fixed furnishings and also laid carpet crudely and not in workmanlike manner. Upon second installation, different labourers also laid carpet poorly but also carpet mismeasured and short so work is not complete. Harvey Norman has my money and refused to communicate with me let alone fix all of the damage and repair or replace or remove the carpet. Wrose still, they stapled through my telephone cord so have no internet, fax, phone use for almost 3 months. I am out of pocket for more than $1, 000 due to their negligence and they couldn't care less. Harvey Norman is a disgrace!!!

Useless service & ignorance!
I bought a 42" plasma for $1375 and a couch worth over $1800 on a Monday from this absolutely appalling salesman. I ignored the salesman's lack of ability, it's his loss he is a crap person and that's not for me to fix. But anyway. Here's where I got angry. I get a call on the Wednesday to say it has arrived. No instruction on how to pick it up, just, "It's here, come get it." So i went and wandered around the store until someone was bothered to serve me. They say "No worries go round to the loading bay." When I asked where it was he waves his arms around saying "around the side" whilst walking off to meet me there. Brilliant, so now I drive around the whole store looking for the loading dock. I get there and had to go through every single identification step again at the dock because the salesman who was meeting me there never arrived.
Next thing I have this man at the loading bay telling me- "nope, you can't fit it in the car." I stood there with the measuring tape seeing that it was obviously going to fit, argued the point with him several times until he says to me "There is no way I'm getting this thing down here to see it wont fit." Go Harvey, Go Harvey.
To top it off this has wasted two hours of my time, I still don't have my television, I spent my fuel driving down there when this could have all been fixed with a simple question from the incompetent salesman at the start - "What sort of car do you have? Ok, no worries, it's not going to fit in there this is what we can do for you..."
Ha Ha yeah right, it's got nothing to do with customer service any more. Trust me Harveys, you sell T.V's? I sell homes, and crap service isn't going to win repeat business.
I'll never buy from Harveys again, and I will be sure to tell absolutely everybody I see about this incident. Oh, and the reason I'm complaining here and not to Harvey Norman directly? They don't have a complaints department. Must have realized they'd have to employ too many more staff.

Saturation advertising!
This is not a complaint concerning quality of goods. It is the saturation TV advertising that has almost reached brain washing levels. The advertising is on all commercial channels and is sometimes repeated over and over again. It has got to the point that each time an advert appears the mute button is pressed. Instead of encouraging me to buy it has resulted in my refusing to shop at any of their branches. They tell us they are experts onall things, furniture, cameras, white goods, plus many others and they will not be beaten on price. This is not only on TV but also on many of the radio stations and newspapers plus in junk mail in letter boxes. I suppose the argument will be others do much the same. Perhaps but Harvey Norman are the worst. If it is not a H.N. Advert it is DOMAINE another one of their stores. Please I do not have to be informed over and over again of sales for every reason including long weekends, haloween, fathers day etc. I AM SICK OF SEEING AND HEARING HARVEY NORMAN!!!

Lie to facilitate agreement
Dear Complaints Board,
Is there an email address to contact the Harvey Norman head franchise office about a customer complaint? I have the following complaint regarding service from the Southlands - Kalgoorlie, Western Australia store.
I purchased a Panasonic 42inch Plasma Television from Harvey Norman on Saturday 15th of July. I was required to take the invoice to the warehouse at the rear of the store where the Storemen gave me the Television and accessories boxes. I travelled home then assembled and set-up the Television in my house. Just as I had finished two Harvey Norman Storemen arrived at my doorstep and told me that they had given me the wrong Television unit. They told me that the unit I was given was an older version of the same Television and they had bought around a newer version for me. They dismantled the Television I had purchased and then I had to assemble and set up the television they had bought to my house.
I have subsequently found out that they actually had given me a newer version of the television with HDTV and not an older version. So they lied to me, maybe to facilitate my agreement to give them back the television I had purchased. I can see why the Storemen were so eager to take the Television I had been originally given.
I was going to purchase a HDTV converter and new gas stove with hotplates from Harvey Norman next month but they have lost my business due to this situation with my Television purchase.
