In July 2009, I bid on and won an eBay auction for an Apple iPod 2g. When I received the iPod, it appeared to be in good working condition, as promised in the eBay auction listing. However, within the first week, it stopped working entirely. I inquired with the seller and was told that they would replace the iPod upon my returning it to them "with the warranty stickers in tact." I explained that I had inadvertently removed the stickers -- not knowing why they were on the iPod and finding them "unslightly." I also opened up a dispute with eBay and Paypal to protect my rights. Initially, Hass Electronics honored my request, accepted the returned iPod and send me a second iPod in replacement. I closed my dispute with Paypla. This second iPod also ceased working within the first week. I attempted to re-open my dispute with Paypal but was told that because it had been 90 days since the "initial" transaction, and I had closed my original dispute, it was no longer possible to re-open the case. I began to dispute back and forth with Hass Electronics directly. The "warranty stickers" were still affixed to the second iPod. Eventually, they agreed to accept the second iPod in return but only wanted to send me a third "replacement." I refused and told them I simply wanted a full refund. I returned the second iPod, via certified mail, return receipt, but Hass Electronics said they never received it (even though I had the signed return receipt card clearly showing that they had, in fact, received it at their warehouse in Sunrise, FL. I opened up disputes with the Better Business Bureau and posted several negative posts on various internet complaint sites. Eventually, Hass Electronics sent me a THIRD iPod -- guess what? That one didn't work for very long, either!! No surprise there!! I eventually dropped my efforts against them because I had hit a brick wall of options -- absent hiring a Florida attorney and filing suit -- which would definitely have cost me WAY more than the $100 Hass Electronics STOLE from me!
