HBS BILLING Reviews

Dexter Mason September 7, 2010
Fraudulent Billing
The following is the Complaint Details, against HBS Billing, eSafeID, and AT&T that I am formally reporting to the Texas Attorney General of Texas, the Federal Trade Commission of the United States, and the Better Business Bureau of Texas.

On July 20, 2010 I received two e-mails from eSafeId, an identity
theft protection company. The first was a confirmation letter of my
order @$14.95 a month to be billed through my local telephone
provider. The second was a welcome letter on my receiving identity
protection registration (copies of both e-mails attached).

Since I had neither ordered nor registered for any identity theft
protection, I ignored the e-mails.

On August 21, 2010 I received my AT&T statement which included
a charge of $14, 95 from HBS Billing Services (copy attached). When I
called AT&T to get the charge canceled, to my suprise they argued
that the problem was mine and that the charge stood as is. When
I countered tht this was an unsolicited, fraudulent attempt to steal
money from me, a long standing AT&T customer, they were
unimpressed. But, after a long and sometimes heated conversation,
AT&T granted me a one-time "courtesy" elimination of the charge.

After the conversation with AT&T, I immediately did some research
on HBS, and found out that this scam has been going on for years
promoting all kinds of products and services. (copy of complaints
attached).

I, personnally, have not been financially injured but I think that the
complaints speak for themselves. eSafe, HBS, AT&T and others are inolved in a conspiracy to steal money from the consumer. AT&T
may not have been in on the initial design of the scam, but evidently
it is lucrutive enough that they are perpetuation an obvious fraud at
the expense of their own customers. What a dismal way to add a few
dollars to the bottom line.

The way is clear. Require communication and other companies to
get customer authorization for third-party billing, or do away with
the practice altogether. Does it really make sense that AT&T is
acting as a collecting agent for HBS, another collecting agent that
is collecting for another company. The only sense it makes is to the
criminals that are trying to confuse the consumer, and evidently it
has been successful for a number of years.

To the people on this Complaint Board: RISE UP AND COMPLAIN TO ANYBODY THAT WILL LISTEN: TELL THEM THAT YOU ARE MAD AS HELL, AND THAT YOU ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANY MORE!!!
