HD Camera World Reviews

Bait and switch
I wished I had seen the complaints listed on your web-site before ordering. Ordered a camera on Saturday Fuji S700, they e-mailed my husband asking him to confirm order, they tried to get us to up grade telephoto lens, then to up-grade filters, frustrated with the situation, we down graded our package from professional to intermediate. He then hung-up on us. Husband called back to check status on Wednesday, we were told guy from Saturday didn't want to deal with us and had canceled order, we never got a confirmation of that having been done, only the confirmation of original order. The so called manager then tried to tell us the batteries and charger on the original order were no longer in stock and would not carry them anymore and it would cost an extra $50 for the 4hr battery and charger. At this point I had my husband hand me the phone and asked him to explain it to me. I then tried to voice my concern the manager said he didn't want to listen that he understood the situation and that I did not need to go through it with him. I then told him repeatedly to cancel the order and he kept trying to tell me why charging me $70's and down grading the memory from 4GB's to 2 GB's was a better deal for me. As it stands right now I am concerned he will charge our credit card account anyway. 8-6-2008.

bad business practices/bad service
DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS WEBSITE!!! You are enticed by their great prices and then you don't get your order until you call and they try to upsell you!! Once you catch on to their game they tell you you can't cancel. There is NO cancellation policy on their website and they still want to charge you!! Buyer BEWARE! Rude people and bad scams; spend the extra money from someone reputable!

Customer Service Online Ordering
I ordered a GPS unit from HD Camera World and called the same day to confirm my order, Michael Levy (customer service rep) tried everything in his power to upsale me software, warrenties, etc. The called was finished when I explained I just wanted the GPS unit and he hung with a smug "I'll just send the unit Mam."

One week later and no unit, so I called HD Camera World again and talked to Michael again. He explained to me that I had never called to confirm order that it would definitly not be to me by the date expressed on order form. I asked to speak to manager and was hung up on. Called again, hung up on. Called again and was told that the order had been cancelled, then hung up on, no explanation!

TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE!!!

Fraud
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. I wished I would have found this website earlier then I wouldn't have been scammed by them. I ordered a camera on the internet from them since they had the lowest price. I received an email saying that my order was waiting for my phone confirmation which is unusual for an on line merchant. When I called, the salesman on the phone tried to sell me a $150, 5 year, warranty that I wasn’t interested in. He also said the camera didn’t come with a battery and that I had a choice of purchasing a lower rated mAhr or the higher 1000 mAhr . He claimed the camera came with a slow charger (18 hrs) and asked if I wanted to upgrade to the faster charger (2.5 hrs). In the end he offered to “throw in” the higher battery and faster charger at no “extra” cost if I purchase the 5 year warranty. After I had agreed on the phone, I later found the 5 year warranty advertised on their web page for $50. When I called back, he claimed that was a different warranty and it was not as good as the one he sold me. When I received my camera, both the box and the owner’s manual said that the 1000mAhr battery and the fast charger were standard with the camera and the 5 year warranty was exactly the same as what was pictured on their web site for $50. In the end, they conned an extra $133 out of me.

Fraudulent Business Practices
Our daughter ordered a camera from hdcameraworld.com. She was over charged for the camera by $9.98 (camera listed on website for $149.99, she was billed $159.97) and told the difference was for shipping insurance on the camera. When the camera was not delivered in 3 days as was stated on the website she called and was informed by a customer service rep that she had not completed the order, she had to order a battery. They could not ship the order until it was complete. When she stated the camera came with a battery she was informed the one included with the camera had very limited life and was offered different options on other batteries available. (When I talked with the company manager, Frank, today he told me that the battery included with the camera was only good for one shot). The additional battery was $84.82 ($69.00 battery plus $15.82 shipping). The additional battery has not arrived to date, there was however a battery included in the box with the camera. The box the camera and accessories arrived in was an ordinary box not a Fuji manufacturer's box. Now I am suspicious as to whether or not the camera is new or used. We feel that what our daughter has been sold is actually the battery that comes with the camera, at a highly inflated price. This business appears to be engaged in fraudulent business practices with regards to providing honest information to its customers. At the very least it's involved in questionable business practices.

hung up 3 times
I called to get some information on a GPS and they hung up on me. So I figured we got disconnected and called back. When I finally got them again I said I was going to order it. Then I asked him to please not hang up on me again. Well, he came back at me and told me to order somewhere else and hung up again. So I got on the computer again and looked up just Camera world. Yikes! I called to order it again and I asked about the price and then She hung up on me. Well, beware all. I don't think I would trust that company at all. I surely don't know how they can do business. Buyer beware!!!

Scam
Do not buy from this company.
I called them about a GPS unit that was very good price.
They told me it didn't have a battery...IT DOES
I hung up and called back thinking I got an ignorant sales person.
This person said yes it does have a battery but I needed to buy maps to load.
When I told them that from what I understood, it came preloaded, they said no it doesn't, I needed to buy the map.
The guy yelled at me, saying "You want the map or not".
When I asked him to explain what it said on the description about being preloaded, HE HUNG UP.
I called Garmin...IT COMES PRELOADED, you don't need to buy a map.
THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE BANNED FROM THE SERVER

Deceptive selling - bait & switch
After placing order on line for a Kodak EasyShare Z812IS I received an invoice email listing the standard invoice items, but also asking me to "Call to confirm this order"

I'd never been asked to do that before, but did. In fact the call had nothing to do with confirming the order, but only with telling me I had to buy a $64 battery as well. A slick version of bait & switch.

The conversation went something like this,

"I'm calling to confirm the order I placed"
--"What is the order number"
"3484"
--"Oh yes. I wanted you to call because I see you didn't order the battery."
"What battery"
--"You have to have a lithium ion batter for this camera."
"Doesn't it come with a battery?
--"Yes, but that's a one-time battery."
"What will your battery cost?"
--"It depends. Do you want a 4-hour or 6-hour? Let me check. Oh! I see the 6 hour is on special. That's what you want. $64.95"
"I'm not interested in any $64 battery"
--"And you'll need a battery charger, too. Tell you what, I'll throw that in for free."
"Why can't I use the rechargeable batteries I already have?"
--"Those are NiCads and they won't work in this camera. You have to have the lithium Ion battery pack."
"I'm not going to buy any batteries from you and in fact I want to just cancel this entire order."
--"There's a 50% cancellation charge"
"Get out of here"
--"It's right in the contract"
"This order was place yesterday. You have not shipped anything. You will cancel this order without any charge and my next call is to my bank to stop payment on the transaction."

I followed that with an email to them affirming the cancellation, and then I called the bank and stopped payment on the transaction and cancelled the debit card (they'll send me a replacement with a different card number).

Fraud & scam
Deceitful company 'the Camera Professionals' now sells under new name 'HD Camera World' ?
I was ready to order a video projector with www.TheCameraProfessionals.com because their price was so much lower than all the other companies, when I read about the 90 complaints for this company. One complaint said that they sell under different names in order to get away with their fraudulent schemes. When I tried to buy it from a different company I came across www.hdcameraworld.com who advertised the same low price. Being a bit more careful now I looked into the 'About Us' and discovered that the text is almost identical to the one of the cameraprofessionals. So be warned - most probably the same deceitful company is behind it.
