False commitments and undue harassments by HDFC Credit Card employees
To Whom It May Concern:
This is regarding complaint associated with my Credit Card. This card was issued to me in 2003-2004 that time I was in Dehradun, however due to official reasons after couple of months I was shifted to Chandigarh as a result of which I wanted to get my billing address updated however even post discussing the matter with call center same was not performed.
As a result of which late payments were charged, as the collection team of bank somehow arranged my new contact number I started receiving calls for clearing my outstanding amount well till then no issues were there as I used to receive my billing details over the phone however when I raised my late payment charges issues it was always assured to me that I need not to pay the Late payment charges however the same was never reduced from my outstanding amount.
Hence I finally requested to closed my Credit Card & it was then confirmed to me by tele-callers that the same would be managed & as per them I paid the minimum amount for continuous 3 months & meanwhile I neither ever used my credit card however the interest remained cumulating in my outstanding amount.
As even post several discussions my billing was not getting stopped I cleared this thing to tele callers (Harjeet and Baljeet, both used to call from Chandigarh) that as far as paying the o/s is concern, no issues from my end however please provide me a full and final statement on your letter head at the same time I provided them my Fax number & address of communication so that same could either way provided to me.
However instead of receiving final payment details I started receiving calls from Legal department (Mr H.S.Barat # +91 9888000533) regarding my payments, I shared my complete story with him, he assured that the NOC will be provided by him however I need to pay some amount (that time my outstanding was varying in between 33000 to 34000) and I paid Rs 14000/- post availing his assurance.
I had a discussion with Mr h.S Barat more then 10 time all calls were initiated by me only and were actually the reminder calls from my end & eventually I provided one more contact number of Mr rajat ( +91 9358103945), the same was discussed with him as well & it was assured from both the persons that I would avail the NOC within 20-25 days as there approval process consumes some time.
However after the commitment date with was 6th August 07, I’ve not received any details of NOC so far.
In the end of July I had a discussion with Mr H.S Barat & he confirmed me over the phone that approval for closing my credit card has been received & final amount is Rs 36000/- out of which you have paid Rs 14000/- now you need to pay Rs 22000/-
Till now I was so much harassed so I didn’t raise any point from my end & I committed to pay the same amount just for the sake of getting away from all this.
However till date (20th August 07) no NOC is received so far & again I’ve started receiving calls from tele-callers i.e. the point from where my case was started it is now back to same point.
Now even when I’m trying to contact Mr H.S Barat or Mr Rajat they are not attending my calls, & have sent some messages as well however no response is there.
Besides my credit Card, I also took a personal loan of Rs 150000/- from HDFC bank in 2003-2004 & trust me no issues are there... my saving account from which auto debit happens is 2251050019655. & so far no dispute or late payment or delay in payment of EMI happened from my end. Infect will never happen in future, I’ve been using services of HDFC for last more then four years however the experience of Credit Card is very bitter.
People handing credit card division are very unprofessional, I’m myself heading Billing & Collections function in telecom however such delays in closing issues in our industry are next to crime.
Moreover false commitments always lead to dissatisfactions, expecting some customer sensitive employee of HDFC to look into the matter.

Poor service!
I had an HDFC BANK CREDIT CARD, I have paid all dues for Settlement as cheque but also they haven't gave me an Letter and torturing me to pay more and also blocking my S/B Salary account and asking me to pay the card amount i have paid more than my limit i have for settlement but they cheated without giving any settlement letter and still they are asking me to pay every day they are torturing me.

HDFC is a bunch of crooks
In evidence of the above statement I would like to share my horrible experience that I had with HDFC Bank Credit Cards. I applied for a credit card, to be more precise, was smooth talked into applying for a credit card. The Credit Card # was 5176351002430969. They framed a well planned payment dispute and started charging interests, various type of fees & penalties. They ignored the payments done and put more penalties and that too after submitting all the proofs of payments.
After some time when I got fed up and stopped payments, they started sending local goons who confronted me, my parents and humiliated me in public. No amount of reason worked with them. I tried to show them proofs of my payments but most of them were not literate enough or interested in my story. They had a hefty commission to take so they just wanted me to cough up more money.
When the situation reached alarming proportion and they started coming to my work place, affecting my business, I was frightened and went to bank and pleaded them to solve my payment dispute. After much pleading they obliged and sent a Settlement Offer Letter.
Being a normal law abiding person I forgot the earlier experience and deposited the amount mentioned in that letter. I thought this will end my suffering.
I was in for a shock when I started getting bills with more balance to be paid. When I contacted the bank, they assured me that it is a system mistake and there is no need to worry. Few months passed peacefully except these bills.
In March 2007, a few people impersonating themselves as men from Delhi High Court called from the mobile #09971187889 at my home and threatened my parents that they will get me arrested (as according to them a case was registered in Delhi due to my non payment of dues) unless the balance amount is paid in full with in next few hours. When I was told by my parents regarding this, I contacted my lawyer, who asked for the copy of charge sheet or FIR. When I called them back for the same they forwarded me to 09871629904 saying that the number belongs to their advocate Mr. S. P. Malik. Mr. Malik straight away asked me to pay the money and did not provide the charge sheet or the FIR. After much pleading, he asked me to fax all the payment details to him. I did the same and when I called again he told me that he will discuss these with the authorities and if I am right he will have an apology issued from the bank.
It was quiet for a few days after that again same thing happened. This time they said that they are from Warrant Execution Cell from Delhi Police. The number they called from was 09871429447. As I was sure that this may be another attempt by bank to frighten me. I approached local police and registered my complaint with them.
I am also contemplating legal action against HDFC Credit Card.
Moreover, I bear one pension plan with HDFC, I have already decided to discontinue the same. It may not bother HDFC card wing because it is not related to their department but I am going to give in writing that afore-described remains the reason because of which I lost my faith in HDFC and discontinuing all my relationship with this name.
All the documents regarding my story are in next few pages. There is also a written complaint in Hindi divulging all the details.
My peace of mind, my image in the market and the confidence my parents had on me is all gone. The only reason for my sufferings is that I went in for credit card from HDFC Bank.
A few of my friends have already turned down the offers from HDFC to go for their credit card and those already with the card have started returning their card.
It is my sincere advise to all HDFC credit card holders to return their cards immediately or they will have to face the same horrors. Please turn down offers from HDFC to make credit cards. You will gain nothing and instead will have to part with your hard earned money.

Harassment by the bank GOONS!
I had a HDFC credit card which I was maintaining correctly, but suddenly due to health reasons I could not pay the monthly dues. One day 2 persons (GOONDAS) came to my house and abused me and spoke in dirty foul language with my family members and also told me to pay the full amount of Rs.30000 in 4 times which I agreed and payed as per the settlement letter. Now after all payment is cleared the bank guys again started calling me and asking for the payment dues. They say due to some problem the settlement got canceled hence I need to pay the amount again... and they stared sending people to my residence. Is this the way a bank like HDFC should behave ?? Please never go for HDFC credit cards... you will spoil your happiness.

Excess amount withdrawn from my HDFC saving accounts

This is to inform you that your bank has been withdrawn Rs 5000/-from my saving account towards the outstanding of Credit Card. The bank did not take any confirmation before auto withdrawn.
Please note that neither I received any statement from the bank nor get any information for the o/s, so how can the bank withdraw money from my account.
In October 2006 my card has been closed by bank and confirmed o/s of Rs.3000/- but the actual o/s was only Rs.1862/- which I was ready to pay and settle the a/c, but the bank did not taken any initiative. Now in April 2007 the bank has withdrawn Rs.5000/- from my saving a/c, which is totally illegal.
So Please deposit Rs.3000/- in my a/c which the bank has withdrawn illegally form my HDFC saving a/c.
If the bank will not deposit the excess amount withdrawn I will take a legal action.

Illegal late fees
As i have used my credit card for purchasing the fuel worth rupees 200.00, in year 2004 then after i have not received neither any bill nor any letter from the bank for that so i could not payback the amount which was credited to me.
But now three years later they are asking me to deposit the 3000.00 rupees for the same, my card and account both are blocked how can i do the same. They are also warned me to file RFC against me. Beware!

Non receipt of statements
I have a hdfc credit card and i have signed up for the statement online as i travel a lot. So far they have rarely sent me my statements online and sometimes they do not send me the statement by post either. Every time i have to remind them about it. So they do not send the statement and then they try to charge a late fee. When i complained they had the cheek to say that i should pay up based on the charge slips that i have. Quite ridiculous!
They also have a facility to check your credit card online... For this you have to have a hdfc bank account... Which is ridiculous once again, as when i tried to log in they said that since i have not checked my bank account online, for sometime the ipin is not valid anymore; i have to send a written request for a ipin number... So since if i am traveling I barely have a choice of being able to make my payments on time.
Strange card!!! As opposed to this i get my citibank statement online for the past 3 years and have never had a problem with it. It is also so easy to check your credit card account details online.

Overbilling without purchase
I am a credit card holder of hdfc bank since last two years. In the month of sep 2006 i purchased online airticket from indian airlines after booking i cancelled the same and merchant has reversed back the same amount that is rs. 4355 which is showing in the next month bill of hdfc. But at the same time the statement is again showing debited from my a/c. After notice this i called several times to hdfc bank customer care they are just giving me assurance that it will be rectify soon and kindly bear with us. In this regard i've given lot of emails and written letter to bank . But sometimes they reply we r looking the matter on the priority basis but nothing has happened still i am getting the bill with late fine and interest charges. Now i got the mail from hdfc suggesting kindly liase with the merchant. Copy bof the mail i am attaching below.

At the outset, we sincerely regret the inordinate delay in our response. We kindly request you to treat the same as an exception as we are committed to providing quality customer service.
With reference to your query on the transaction of Rs. 4,355 incurred at M/s. Indian Airlines. we wish to reiterate that as per our records the above mentioned transaction credited back to your card account and subsequently was charged again by the merchant .
Hence, we request you to liaise with the merchant for further assistance regarding refund of the above mentioned transaction on your card account.
Further, we wish to confirm that in appreciation of your relationship with us, we have already reversed the late payment fee of Rs. 392.84 billed to your card account in January 07 statement.
We take this opportunity to confirm that the total outstanding dues on the card account as on date is Rs. 9,694.14.

HDFC and RBI Complaint Book
HDFC Bank have "COMPLAINT BOOK issued by RBI". Remember its a complaint book not any online service
Write your issue in it only HDFC Manager like "Ashwini Gupta" of Rani Bagh Branch may stop you in writing that do write in RBI Complaint Book.

Unjustified extra interest charge
I am customer for HDFC from last two years and this is the 2nd time i am into a problem with this bank forget about sympathy from their CC division i have not received a single call for any complaint launched over the phone. I had recently made a payment of Rs 1200o in cash to this bank on 4th may 2007 and my due date was 5 th may 2007, now the personal banker of this bank say that the payment goes on the dummy account once you pay the amount in cash and it would take 12 hrs to reflect the amount paid on your card. When i call customer service of this bank they say that even if you make a payment on 4th may you would be charged with the interest in your next billing cycle. I don't understand I am make a payment in cash... i am paying the amount to the bank directly and not doing any 3rd party transfer... I am making the payment before the due... why should i pay the extra interest why??... Why??... Why???..
