Employee not washing hands after bathroom
My husband went shopping there on 12/3 for Deli items. My 7yr old had to use the bathroom. My husband while waiting near the sink area for my son to finish in the bathroom saw a Henry's employee exit the bathroom stall with his work golves on, not wash his hands and exit the bathroom. My husband exited the bathroom to see this employee walk over the produce department and start handling oranges. When my son was done and WASHED his hands, my husband went to the store manager to let her know what happened. Her intial response was, well he was wearing gloves so it should be ok. Actually not ok, but then my husband clarified...the worker had the gloves on WHILE in the stall and left the stall with gloves still on, then immediately touched produce. She said ok. Another customer over this conversation between the manager and husband and put down her basket and said, "well I am not buying produce here anymore" and left. My husband began to explain to the manager why this was wrong. The manger ultimately apologized and offered my husband a gift card for his trouble. He left without the card.
My husband called me to report this. We had produce in our fridge from shopping there 2 days before and this same worker was on duty. I WASN'T going to eat it now. I called the manager and told her my husband was just speaking to her, she knew the incident. I told her I was reporting this incident to the Health Dept. I informed her we packing the items up we just purchased and would returning it all and expect ing a full refund. Magically did not have an issue and was NOW very apologetic and said they "were taking care of the issue". She also did not recall telling my husband about saying it was "ok, he had gloves on".
We did go in a spend OVER 15 minutes while she figured out our produce returns...I did have a receipt, and after 15 minutes got my $22 I spent. She offered a gift card for $25 to keep us as good customers (we normally shop there 2-3 times a week) and promise this incident would be taken care of.
By the way..we checked and the oranges he was touching were STILL ON SALE TO CUSTOMERS.
I am upset that the manager was so sluff about this incident until I called to ask about returning groceries and informed her I was calling the Health Department. It took over $15 minute to process a $22 refund. They never pulling the orianges the employee contaminated.
WE ARE GOING TO GO BACK TO BUYING FROM BONEYS!!! BEWARE BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT GERMS HENRY'S WORKERS ARE LEAVING FOR YOU. I CAN SEE THE MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CARE UNLESS THREATENED WITH THE HEALTH DEPT.

Overpriced
This Grocery Store is very overpriced, but carries a few products that I liked and couldn't get elsewhere. I used to drop $600.00 easily a month there, buying those items along with items I could easily have bought much cheaper elsewhere, but as a matter of convenience, bought there as well.
Recently, 4 of the 6 items that attracted me to the store are always out of stock, One for instance was "Steward Black Cherry Soda". On and off I would get frustrated finding an empty shelf, so I compalined to the Store Manager about that item and the others. His reply was that he is at the mercy of the vendor. I asked him to set aside a case a week if he could resume acquisition of the product. Well folks, it's now going on 2 months and still, not a single 4 pack. It's just a case of management can care less, even after I threatened him to stop shopping there. Unbelievably bad Customer Service in that they have like many other businesses, a "Who cares if you leave, it isn't my pocket" attitude.
