These people are very slick, when you buy movies on their website and pay at checkout, you are told after you have paid for your movies that you have joined their membership club. There is no option to cancel the transaction. You don't even realize this charge will happen until you receive your credit card statement. When calling to cancel you are told that you only had 72 hours to cancel the membership in order to receive a credit. I told them I did not want their membership and they said fine. However I received my next statement and there was another charge for the second month of membership. Now I am being told that I was not specific in my request and saying you don't want their membership is not the same as cancelling. Total play on words on their end. They will not remove any charges without a cancellation confirmation number which I was not given after the first call. These people should not be allowed to do business. They are shady at the least.

Thye have been charging me $12 per month for something I did not ever order. Every representative has given me the same scripted reponse and cannot even answer what I ordered? I am on hold right now trying to get to the bottom of this and how I will get my $60 back from them. I noticed 3 pages of complaints against this company. I need to contact the BBB after I hang up.

i was charged a 19.95 charge on my credit card for a membership i knew NOTHING ABOUT. when i called them, they told me i could not get a refund.and i'm mad as hell over this.. i never signed up for anything from this company, all i did was order 1 movie, that i wish i never had now..i want my money back.

I have four separate charges on my checking account for $19.95 - on 21, 22, 23, and 24 August.

I have never done business with these folk - how did they get my card number to use???

I made a purchase of a DVD from HMS for $6.22 plus $2.99 shipping on Aug.7, 2009. Right away I received an email stating the DVD was out of stock and that they would ship it as soon as it came in. On Aug.21 weeks later I got another email stating the DVD was still out of stock. I then decided to cancell the order and did so online. In the same day I received my Credit card Statement and saw a charge for $19.95 from HMS Movies. I had no idea what this charge was for so right away I called my Credit Card Company and put the charge in dispute. The next morning I received another email from HMS stating that they now shipped the DVD out a day after I cancelled the order. I then called HMS to find out what was going on. They told me the item was now shipped and that the $19.95 charge was for a membership fee. I told the Customer Service Rep that I never joined up to be a member anywhere on their website. He told me that after purchasing the DVD that I had 3 days to cancel the membership. I told the Rep that I had no idea what he was talkiing about and that they never even shipped the DVD to me that I finally cancelled it. He then told me that I can refuse the DVD when it comes but that I was still responsible for the $19.95 membership fee. I told him that in no way was I going to pay for something that I didn't agree to. Right now I am still in dispute. In the mean time I have found numerous complaints online for HMS Movies and HotMovieSales. Apparently I am not the only one that has been subject to this scam from what I can see. I next plan to make a complaint to the Better Business Bureau.
