We got a call saying we had an opportunity for a free vacation. Several to choose from; 8 day 7 night stay, or a cruise, or two free airfare tickets with two night stay etc. All we had to do was come to listen to the sales pitch with Holiday Passports which is affliated with Holiday Travel of America. I have to admit the sales pitch wasn't too long or too much pressure, but we weren't interested so of course wanted the free gift. At first they handed us a piece of paper that said it was for a three day stay in Mexico. That was not what they promised us so we went back and told them they had mentioned a 8 day/7 night vacation or a cruise. They were accommodating and gave us both vacations! On our way home we started reading the fine print to both vacations. With the 'Airfare with Two Night Hotel Stay' there is a non-refundable $50 processing fee, plus a $100 per person for all the 'taxes, surcharges etc. plus an additional $50 per person travel agency processing fee. Then there is the line that says we are also responsible for all expenses including but limited to transfers(there's that word again), food, gratuities, all pertinent fees, taxes, surcharges ( I thought that was already covered with the $100 per person fee), and miscellaneous expenses So after $350 we can expect to pay additional fees, taxes.
The same was true with the '7 Day Cruise Getaway for Two'. There is a $19.95 non refundable processing fee. Then the certificate says the "only charges would be $50 per person travel agency processing fee plus $55 per person per day based on double occupancy." That so far is a total of $890. Wow that doesn't sound free to me!
And for all of these and any 'free vacation" there is an additional charge if you want to schedule the trip during high and peak season, weekends or holidays. You have to give them several dates and they will let you know if any are available.
The free vacation is a completer SCAM. It's anything but free!! Don't waste your time.
