FRAUD
Two high pressured telephone salesmen sold me a plan that in actuality covered almost none of what they promised that it would. What happened was this: I provided my phone number to some sort of online insurance company broker. Within minutes, I received several calls. Homeland health care was the only company I ended up speaking with. Diana from homeland health care took some basic health information, then asked me what kind of price range would be reasonable to me. I told her I would pay what was necessary to receive a good quality plan that would provide reasonable coverage of typical expenses- doctors visits, surgery, etc. She claimed that what she could do for me is enter my information into a database that would search all of the plans available to me. After claiming to do that, she gave me the description of a plan she found for me. Long story short, she described this plan to provide all of the coverage I could ever need, that is, she made it sound like a decent policy. She also spent a long time convincing me that I wasn't going to find this kind of deal anywhere else. The whole time I was very skeptical with her, repeatedly asking her to describe explicitly what kind of coverage it provided for each type of expense, and she repeatedly convinced me that this plan did fully cover (other than reasonable deductibles) all major medical expenses. She also reassured me by telling me I could cancel this plan at any time, and that I would have thirty days after receiving the paperwork describing the plan to to review, and if I so decided, to cancel the plan with a full refund of the first months premium. Finally, I accepted the plan. Diana explained to me that I would be run through a recorded confirmation, and she instructed me not to ask any questions until after the recording. She also essentially "interpreted" the recording for me, basically making it sound like the words used in the recording are all just technical semantics, and that they indeed did state what she had already described to me- that I would be agreeing to pay for a good quality insurance plan that reasonably covered all major medical expenses, and that I would have thirty days to cancel the policy for a full refund. I told her I had some questions, at which point she transferred me to her smooth talking supervisor Jay, who again reassured me that this plan had all of the features I was looking for. I completed the recording, which consisted basically of stating "yes" after they asked me if Diana had explained x and y to me. The truth was, Diana explained x and y to me, but I later found out that her explanation of "x and y" was in fact nothing but LIES and MISTRUTHS. After completing the recording, the person I was on the line with essentially said thank you and have a good day and hung up. The paperwork describing the plan didn't arrive for over a week. After opening and reading the paperwork, I realized that the plan I was sold was nothing like what I had been promised. I realized that Diana and Jay had deliberately mislead me and outright lied to my face. It wasn't until after I got the plan that I realized what the words "limited benefit" really meant. Diana and Jay had convinced me that limited benefit plans actually provided more comprehensive coverage than a major medical plan. In reality, the "limited benefit" plan I had in front of me covered almost nothing. For example Diana and Jay said that surgeries would be completely covered, but in reality the plan only covered one surgery per year for a maximum coverage of one thousand dollars per year. Needless to say I was upset and frustrated that I had been lied to. I called customer service demanding either answers or a refund, and they gave me neither. I finally ended up speaking with the "supervisor" who also happened to be Jay, the man who originally sold me the policy. He denied the possibility of him or anyone else at the company ever misleading me. He would not take seriously any of my complaints, and insisted that they had been completely honest and straightforward during the conversation. I brought up specific lies that he himself had told me, and he said "I don't know exactly what was said during the conversation, but I do know that we have a recording of you agreeing to the plan and the cost". When I asked for a refund, he told me it was impossible to refund the "non-refundable $75 fee" and that because I hadn't cancelled the plan by the effective date of the policy, I couldn't get a refund for the first months payment. At this point it was obvious Jay was not going to admit any wrongdoing, and that he wasn't willing to give me any refund. I asked to speak with his superior, and he told me he didn't have one. He told me he was the president and director of the company! I said "so the president and director of this company is also an insurance salesman?" and he said "yes, that's right, you're wasting your time, you're not getting a refund, so get off my line!" This conversation took place yesterday, so I'm still unsure of how it will play out. I haven't received any refund or even a confirmation that the plan was canceled. I still have not been able to reach any superior to Jay. In summary, it's now clear to me that homeland healthcare is in the business of ripping people off, and they by no means meet the reasonable persons definition of a fair and trustworthy insurance broker. It is in your own best interest to never trust homeland healthcare, and avoid all dealings with them. They will tell you every lie they need to to get your money.

Unethical agents and misrepresentation of policy
I thoroughly investigated and research this insurance before I purchased a policy in August 2009 for my husband and daughter. In November, i received about $700.00 in lab bills for my daughter. Upon contacting the company, I realized I was paying $120.00 a month since August but my daughter was not covered. After speaking with J. Langston and being informed that a former employee, Ed Turner hadscrewed up my account, I was refunded $600.00, the amount paid for my daughter. In February, my bank account was drafted $219.00 unauthorized and I incurred $108.00 in insufficient fund fees. After speaking with K. West and J. Langston, I did receive my money back but had to close my account so that Homeland Health Care no longer had access to my account information. I consider my self pretty consumer savvy but this company is unethical and unprofessional.

Misrepresentation & refusal to refund costs
I too was scammed by Homeland Health Care. I was told that every requirement that I had was covered. I was also told that there would be no "pre-existing conditions". My account was debited $253.95. When I tried to call to cancel, the broker said it was all taken care of and would be cancelled. When I actually insisted on talking to that department. I was told that it could not be cancelled by phone. If I hadn't insisted on talking with them, I would have been duped again.
They are scam artists and misrepresent just to get the initial fee. I am still trying to get my refund, even though I have not used the insurance.

misrepresentation
They said it was 'group insurance' like you'd get through an employer, and that a new group had just become available with a limited number of policies they could add to the group. I'd never heard of a group insurance that paid almost nothing. They said group insurance wasn't major medical, it was BETTER than major medical. She said it didn't have a maximum lifetime benefit like major med, nor the big deductible and copays like major med. They never once said it was "limited benefit insurance". I remember decades ago when major medical didn't cover office visits, it was a hospitalization policy. She IMPLIED this would take care of both. Well, it does pay a SMALL portion for both, but it's almost nothing. And there isn't an exact dollar figure at which coverage ends, it's just they pay so little on anything they pay for that it adds up to a small amount. If it sounds too good to be true...
Prescription drug coverage had to be purchased separately. I had to set up payments and pay an application fee before I could get the fine print, which DID say it was limited benefit insurance. It was certainly more expensive than any limited benefit policy I'd ever seen, and they didn't say it was limited benefit when we were on the telephone. It was almost as much as I'd been paying for COBRA, and more than the military retiree insurance, so I though it was possible for it to be decent insurance..
I was able to verify that the more important of my doctors were on the plan, now I'm disappointed with them that they'd associate with such a plan. But they do end up getting more money total with this insurance than with other PPO insurance, so I understand why they participate.
I feel so stupid.

Fraud
Don't get conned into buying there discount insurance or you will be very disappointed. If you have any major work needed, surgery, heart attack, stroke, critical care needs or aything else may God help you. You will be so screwed and so unhappy you will owe thousands of dollars to the hospital. Try to file a claim with this company and it is a joke. This is a DISCOUNT PLAN! Nothing more. As long as you know this and decide to buy then you are ok. Please don't get conned bytheir RX plan either. It will pay a very limited amount you need to read your policy. It may pay $200 at the very most if you buy the highest plan. Please, please, please read the fine print before buying and make sure you are not trying to buy health insurance. This will pay dr. visits at most. They say it doesn't matter if the dr. is on their plan. Try to make a claim like this and you will discover disappointment and a lot of money out of pocket. I really have read the entire policy and can't find 1 person who would benefit from this. There agents at the company head quarters are all phone jockeys, they never see the person, they are robots trying to earn their commission and meet quotas. They will tell you the outline to get you to buy. They forget to tell you this isn't real health insurance.

Taking money from my bank account without permission
I called Homeland Health Care for health insurance a very fast talking agent described a policy that sounded perfect for me.
He asked for my card number in order to send me a copy of the policy to read over. As we were finishing our talk he said to me " oh yes by the way this will not cover pre-existing conditions".
At that point I said stop right there this will not work for me, I am disabled and I need something that covers pre-existing conditions.
He said he wanted me to talk with another agent that might be able to help me, I told him that I had to leave and would have to call back when I had time, but to forget the other policy because there is no way it would work for me.
Later that night I checked my bank account and within 20 mins of our conversation they had deducted $184.00 from my bank account without my authorization.
I have been calling everyday and faxing them and they will not return my calls or my money.
As far as I am concerned they stole my money from me, please never call this money.
They should thank God that I live in Michigan and am not in Texas where I could address them in person.

scammed
In April my husband was diagnosed with having a "heart murmur." He left his job in Florida to relocate to Tennessee. After being offered a wonderful job, he had to have the usual drug testing which were all neg. Then the nurse practioner listened to his heart and said you have a bad murmur and need to further have it checked into. Then one thing lead to another and he needed surgery to have the valves repaired. Since leaving the company he was with for over 26 years we had "NO" insurance. I applied online for ins companies that covered "pre-existing" conditions. We found Homeland Health Care. What we thought was a great ins plan turned out to be the biggest nightmare of all times. We sit now with well over $100.000 in medical bills WE have to pay out of pocket while Homeland health care continues to withdraw $260.00 every month from our account. So my advise to ANYONE who even thinks about going to HOMELAND Health Care AWA Surecare Silver better be very wealthy! They covered approx. $150.00 total of medical costs!
thanks for listening and BE CAREFUL of this company
