So, I got duped, too. I got a call on November 5th, 2009 to sign up for a policy and even state on the phone call that it sounded 'too good to be true'. I should have listened to my instincts! When I got the packet, yesterday, November 9th, 2009 and reviewed it, it quickly became obvious that this policy covers next to nothing. They will pay $50 for a doctor's visit. My physician's office charges $88 just to walk in the door! Why am I paying $109 a month for this so called 'group' health insurance.
The red flag that should have made me stop the purchase was that they asked me to agree that this was not a major medical policy nor was it a discount plan. The representative explained this to me vaguely and then said that I wouldn't have a deductible, copay, coinsurance to worry about. That's because this thing does not cover much! No labs, no xrays, no diagnostics!!!
I called my bank and changed my debit card number. I tried to dispute it, but since I authorized the charge, even though I bought something that was misrepresented, my bank won't fight for me either. So, I'm faxing the form to cancel. That fax number is 214.953.1101.
Oh by the way, when I called the customer service line I spoke with a woman named 'Onika' who quickly became very hostile. When I mentioned to her that her company has lots of complaints on-line she said 'we don't talk about that' to which I responded that I'd seen her name on the internet in connection with the company's complaints, and she said 'I know my name isn't on there'.
You can't cancel on the phone, but you can pay by phone? NOT RIGHT!!! STOP right there.
Hopefully if you are reading this it's not too late for you.
