Not too sharp above the neck, these people.
I just got turned down for a new bike purchase because these cretins looked at three collection entries that are between two and five years old and decided they were new collections because the date they were last reported was within the last year. How do people working with credit every day not know how to read reports?
The finance manager at the dealership actually tried to tell me that although one medical bill that has been on my record since 2005, the fact that it was last reported in March of 2009 means that it didn't reach collections until then, and this is what Honda is going on. So in other words, hospitals put accounts not in collections on credit reports and list them as derogatory "just because", and the fact that they're listed the whole time as being reported by a collection agency is just a trick of the light. Because they won't be reported as in collections until 5 years later.
I got a really crappy loan from another company as a last resort because Honda loan reviewers can't interpret credit report data. Luckily, I will avoid the last 3 years of 20% interest because I'll be refinancing the debt in 1 year, but it's the principle here that infuriates me. These people sum up who you are by these ridiculous reports and if they can't read them, they shouldn't be using them.
I worked for 2 years adding 200 points to my credit scores by not missing a single day on a payment, always tripling the minimum payment, and keeping my debt ratio under 20%. I look at my reports 3 times a week and twice at the end of my credit card billing statements. Why do I bother if some klod on the other end and his misunderstandings get me treated like I'm still at 505?
Never again with Honda unless it's private party and CASH.
