Fraud & cheating!
I had signed up with horizon gold card and saw that there is no logo of visa card or master card on the credit card, I called to Hallmark Bank and canceled it but they had already grabbed my 79.95 . I called them again and asked for my money back. They left me on hold for over a hour, knowing I was calling from the US. I still does not have my money back and it has been a month.

Complete scam!
I just got in the mail this scamming companies ad. Its all too bad that the FTC does nothing to keeping these credit predators in check. TIP: To raise your credit, 3 credit cards no more no less, pay off all 3 every month so another words live within your means. Every month you do that, when reported to the credit agencies, you get an increase in you FICO score. Car loans do nothing for you until you pay it off. They are a scam too. Student loans lower your score no matter what. Pay them on time though or ask for deference’s or forbearances. You can in big trouble with them. Any medical you should make sure never get into your credit report. Home loans do wonders for credit. Pay off you student loans and your cars with home loans. Its cheaper and results in a better scoring when they get paid off. Again make sure you can afford it. Stay away from any credit card company that claims to report. Have them prove it and fully. Some companies only report certain information which can actually hurt you. Orchard bank and Household Finance are two great companies if you have bad credit and want to restore your credit. Cancellation never happened
To whom it may concern,

I had signed on for this card, thinking that it was a major credit card. Well, after discovering that it wasn't I waited a little bit and then called in January to have the card cancelled. The lady on the phone offered me a free month if I would just check out there store website again. I did so and then called back 17 days later and said "not interested" please cancel the card and the gentlemen on the phone said no problem... I since then have gotten a withdrawal on checking account for there monthly fee and I called this morning to talk to the supervisor and complain to him about getting that fee put back in my account. He told me he is sorry and can't do that because that fee is for last month. However, I had called and asked this account to be cancelled therefore there should have never been a charge to begin with. He again told me he could not issue a refund because this was for last month. Again I had called before last month and asked the card to please be cancelled. What can I do or complain to now about this company. I do believe this company to a be somewhat "scamful" in what they do to there customers and how there customer service policy is. Thank you for you time. I no longer have my membership ID because after calling in January to cancel the card I threw the card out so you should be able to get all information from my last name.

Scammed by Horizon Gold
I paid $79.95 for this supposed credit card. I went on-line and saw that the services that they provide are not even worth paying for. You have to "double-pay" in order to get the information that they claim you get for free, i.e., credit reports, roadside assistance, cash advances, supposed discounts on gas - PLEASE!!!

I was able to access one of their crappy websites before I got the card in the mail and I knew that this card was something I wanted to cancel right away. I tried calling them and was directed to call back during the week. When I did so, I got the run-around and was told that Horizon Gold was just as good as Walmart, Sears, Target (whatever!) I received my card about 20 days into this mess and tried to cancel. I was told that since the account was open for about 20 days, I would only get a refund of $34.95! I did not even use their services, the website for their on-line store is a bunch of sh$%!!! This is a total scam. Don't fall for it or take it if they have done you wrong! Fight back! That's what I'm doing. I am going to expose this company for what it really is. Horizon Gold should have just given me back a full refund. ---Let the games begin----

Dishonest business practices!
I signed online for this card February 2, 2007, thinking that it was a mastercard or visa. I waited two weeks for the card to arrive. Meanwhile then took the 79.95 from my account immediately. When the card arrived I was stunned to see that it was neither a mastercard nor a visa. You have to log into a site and shop for their products and they say they report this to TransUnion. I sent two emails immediately for they was closed. I told them that I thought they were dishonest and that they had deceived me. The very next day I got three emails from this company and also called and was told they would credit me 34.95 back to my account. I said I would contact my attorney general office, then I was place on hold. Okay, we will credit you 59.95 back. I said, you took 79.95 from me, I want all my money back for I never used any of your services nor did I order any of your junk. Needless to say, 20.00 is still outstanding and it will fight for it. Below is a couple of emails from this company.

Denese-

We have canceled your account. Cancellation confirmation is 31647. Also, your refund of $59.95 was processed, it should appear back in your account in 24-72 hours.

Thanks-
Amber

Dear Denese,

I am sorry that you feel you were "scammed". First and foremost, remember that the Horizon Gold Card was designed to help people re-establish their credit. Is this what you are looking to do? It's difficult and very risky to offer high-end items to a customer base that is rebuilding credit. Plus, large items are expensive to ship.

Credit works the same whether you are using a credit card on a shopping site or to purchase gas. Our card is a true credit card that reports back to a major credit bureau every 30 days.

We do have a partner site we can provide you with that offers a Visa. They do require an employment check as well as a credit check. Is your credit score high enough to support being approved for a Visa right now?

Being very familiar with our advertising, I know that Horizon Card Services does not advertise our Gold Card with a Visa or MasterCard logo. That WOULD be deceitful. We also make ALL Terms and Conditions available to applicants during the application process. I've attached a copy in order for you to review again.

We do require all of our customers wishing to cancel to call our Member Services at toll free 1.800.251.6144.

Thank you,
Kim

Subject: Feedback

I am very disappointed in this company. I never thought I was getting a card to shop online for the garbage that I see on the site. I really feel scammed by this company and will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau. I never thought that once you took the 79.95 from my account that I was not getting a credit card (visa or mastercard) you have deceived me and I am really upset about this. Your merchandise is trash.

DENESE BROWN.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

These people get you a $500 unsecured credit card!
This is a good one. These people get you a $500 unsecured credit card for a one time fee of $79.95 and a monthly maintenance fee of $19.95. The card is called Horizon Gold. When you go to the web site it isn't there. When you call the phone number it's disconnected. What's a girl to do? I'd like to beat the, never mind, it's just that this whole money scam thing makes me so angry it is unbelievable. I don't get much financially anyway and to get even less is deplorable. How do you catch these people? Here one day and gone tomorrow!
