On January 4th 2007 I was waiting for a flight at 5.3OPM and had the unfortunate experience of getting a drink at Host Coffee/Wolfgang Puck Snacks (Gates B60-B68). An elderly foreign gentleman (who spoke no English) was asking how much a banana cost. The woman "working" there (and I use this term loosely because she did nothing but belittle people and talk with her friend) yelled at him and put him down in such a way that it made me ashamed to be an American.
As an airport employee, and a human being in general, it is her job to treat people with dignity and respect and not to yell at people when she is asked politely a simple question. When Newark Airport hires terrible employees like this, it gives travelers a very unfavorable image of America and they are unlikely to return to spend their tourist dollars.
